Summary
Lead accurately processes and/or audits of all employee related transactions including new hires, merit increases, wage adjustments, status changes, employee Benefit Plans, bi-weekly payroll processing, separations, and leaves of absence processing in accordance with state and federal regulations. To timely process final payment for Petco's Regions, Corporate office and Distribution Centers as assigned. To provide guidance, knowledge and support including automated systems of HR, Payroll and Benefits. This position will lead HR Services Representatives, the incumbent will provide training to other employees in various aspects of the department and act on the Supervisor’s behalf during his/her absence.
Responsibilities
* The incumbent must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation. * Lead, audit, and process new hire paperwork, pay increases, job changes, transfers, update records with personal information changes and other data entry as needed according to Petco policies and procedures. * Review incoming payroll hours/earnings from stores, DC’s and/or Corporate timesheets and work with the appropriate management to resolve discrepancies and pay issues, and process payments either systematically or by manually calculating as necessary to ensure the accuracy of Petco's bi-weekly payroll. Run and audit multiple payroll reports/queries to determine issues and the resolution. * Act as the point of contact to all store and field management for HRIS systems support including but not limited to online personnel actions, performance reviews, online new hires, Web Scheduling Tool, store time and attendance system, and grooming transactions to effectively provide support and guidance * Review and audit job and payroll related data changes and makes corrections to information as needed, keeping Supervisor informed of reoccurring errors, keep abreast of trends and issues by determining root cause and communicate best practices by recommending possible solutions for workflow and process improvement. * Lead and coordinate the administration of employee benefits plans, including medical, dental, Life, AD&D, disability, leaves of absences and the 401k plan. Process documents and advise both active, leave, and separated associates related to their eligibility and participation in the benefit plans including qualifying events. * Handle more complicated leaves of absences and employee benefit related issues. * Train HR Services Representatives as necessary. Provide leadership and guidance on an on-going basis to HR Services Representatives. Maintain documentation for training and procedures in the HR Services Center area. * Partner with store, field management and Employee Relations on sensitive issues as well as terminations due to missing or incomplete new hire paperwork as required by Federal regulations and company policies and procedures. * Operate a computer keyboard using Microsoft Office applications as well as HRIS database and 10-key punch. * Use a telephone and e-mail to communicate with all levels of management and staff in the field regarding personnel actions, policies and procedures and other sensitive issues. **Work Environment:** * The majority of job duties are performed while seated in doors with little or no exposure to hazards.
Ideal Candidate
**Education/Experience:** Minimum educational background required is a High School Diploma or its equivalent (GED), while an Associate or Bachelor degree in a related field is preferred. Also, two to three years experience in Human Resources, Payroll, or Benefits in a multi-state environment or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Qualified candidates will demonstrate proficiency in mathematics, computer skills (including MS office), verbal and written communication skills and knowledge of a 10-key by touch. Excellent customer service skills are required, previous experience in a Customer Service environment preferred Basic understanding of an HRIS necessary.
