Summary
Under general supervision, the Sr. Payroll Specialist is responsible for assisting in calculating, reviewing, verifying and posting complex payroll; detecting and responding to due dates, errors, and discrepancies; and performing related duties as required, thereby ensuring a smooth flow of the payroll process. Assists the Payroll Lead with training the Payroll Specialists on new and changing procedures, updating the Payroll Lead and Payroll Manager of progress of such on a continual basis. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
Responsibilities
**Essential Duties & Responsibilities:** * Assist in processing all payrolls for hourly and salaried staff. * Assist in auditing eTIME employee timecard corrections, accruals and approvals. * Ensure payroll batches have been audited and balanced to payroll register prior to payroll preview acceptance. * Work with ADP MPS team to ensure accurate timely payroll processing. * Receive and compile incoming mail and e-mails for processing and auditing payroll data. * Input this information into the ADP Enterprise RPDE to ensure correct payroll adjustments. * Process all e-mails concerning payroll. * Process all garnishments timely, accurately and in compliance with all legal requirements. * Submit to ADP all writs of garnishments within specified timelines. * Answer all agency, payroll vendor, and employee-related inquiries. * Review and sign all garnishments inquiries from ADP and return within specified timelines. * Maintain the ADP manual check log. * Assign KBISS inquiries to the payroll specialists. * Answer and close any ADP KBISS inquiries as assigned within 24 hours. * Follow payroll policies and procedures as set forth. * Works with the commission analyst on hours recovery items. * Assists the commission analyst on commission related questions. * Back up the Commission Analyst in Car Toys and Wireless Advocates commission processing. * eTIME System Administrator. * Answer commission and bonus pay related questions within 24 hours. * Maintain all payroll records so that they are secure and easily retrievable for research. * Answer all telephone and email inquiries within 24 hours from receipt of each call. * Provide exceptional customer service to external and internal customers. * Assist with special projects and additional duties as assigned. * Assist Assistant Payroll Manager with training payroll specialists on new policy and procedures, and systems. * May be cross-trained, or asked to cross-train others, in areas of responsibility between the two companies in order to support coverage for absences and provide succession for career development and enterprise growth. **Dimensions:** * Quantitative: Work in a team environment with high-volume of transactions. * Qualitative: Must be detail-oriented, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize duties. Accuracy and timeliness is essential to this position. Invalid payments to employees have a direct impact on relationships with internal customers and a direct negative impact on the company cash flow and profit. * This position is responsible for executing pertinent group and departmental Key Metrics. **Working Relationship:** * Internal: Interacts with all departmental and store employees when resolving questions and researched items. * External: Interacts with external customers, maintaining positive relationships with vendors, agencies, etc.
Ideal Candidate
* Associates Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience of 5-6 years in Payroll. * Previous experience in a senior role in payroll and/or accounting. * Excellent Personal Computer experience, Excel and Word required * Detail-oriented with a priority for accuracy in spelling and mathematics * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Ability to communicate effectively orally using tact and courtesy * Read, speak, write and understand the English language * Good organizational skills with a pro-active positive attitude * Work well in a team environment * Required to sit and talk and hear and to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. * This position is sedentary with bending, twisting, stooping and lifting (of no more than 10 pounds) seldom occurring. * Work is performed in a fast-paced office environment
