Summary
The **Accounting Clerk II** is primarily responsible for performing a wide range of accounting tasks in general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable or related financial area which are routine in nature; reconciles accounts, posts journal entries, processes payments and/or expense invoices, verifies information, files, and prepares accounting reports.
Responsibilities
* Balances various application systems (such as demand deposits, accounts receivables, trading accounts, and related suspense accounts) with general ledger; analyzes posted entries verifying mathematical accuracy, proper coding, and approval of entries. * Reconciles and settles inter-company receivables and payables. * Reconciles due from bank accounts. * Performs daily posting of deposits to subsidiary ledger system and preparation of aging reports. * Files, copies, and assists in various accounting projects as assigned by the senior level accounting personnel; processes automated files from various sources for posting to the general ledger. * Assists with monthly and quarterly preparation of regulatory report information (NASD-FOCUS and Fed Call Reports).
Ideal Candidate
* Working knowledge and understanding of general accounting principles * Good PC and software application skills, including word processing and spreadsheet applications and the ability to use products such as Monarch to extract data from PCI; ability to operate a 10 key by touch * Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills * Good math skills and ability to understand/calculate percentages and fractions * This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of an Associates Degree in Accounting or Finance and 2-3 years experience in accounting or 5-6 years equivalent experience in Finance and/or Accounting, preferably bank accounting.
