Responsibilities
Acts as a role model for staff. Hires qualified staff and develops them to their full potential. Welcomes feedback and suggestions for improvement. Handles problems in an effective manner with discretion. Practices uniformity, consistency, and fairness when making decisions. Conducts valuable annual performance evaluations as per policy. Rewards exceptional performance and documents performance that does not meet Medical Center standards. Displays original thinking. Continuously strives to improve processes and procedures. Encourages staff suggestions for improving work methods and processes. Makes decisions that are data-based, with measurable outcomes. Manages the payroll and accounts payable processes of the Hospital, related subsidiary companies and the physician practice companies Oversight and monitoring of the daily cash flow of the Hospital, related subsidiary companies and the physician practice companies Coordination and monitoring of the monthly financial close process of the Hospital, related subsidiary companies, and the captive practice companies Responsible for the oversight and management of the general ledger; including the review of journal entries and reconciliations Responsible for the oversight and management of all bank and investment accounts; including the review of the monthly reconciliations
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor's degree in Business Administration-Accounting major, CPA a plus: At least 3 years of management experience in General Accounting, including financial reporting, oversight of payroll, Accounts Payable, tax reporting, banking and investments; has the ability to continuously develop accounting principles and practices; must have excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills in interacting with all levels of staff an management; proficient in advanced computers, including windows-based applications and systems. Experience with large public CPA firms preferable. * Maintains effective financial controls and procedures with sound accounting principles and practices. * Technical accounting research for treatment of unusual transactions. * Demonstrates effective verbal communication skills. * Demonstrates excellent computer communication skills. * Attends various ad-hoc committees in the Hospital upon request.
