Senior General Ledger Accountant

Phunware is adding a Senior General Ledger Accountant to the operations accounting team, which is responsible for accounts payable, fixed assets, intangible assets, prepaid expenses, opex accruals and other general ledger accounts. This position will have tremendous exposure to all aspects of the accounting cycle, and the ideal candidate has a solid understanding of US GAAP, general accounting processes and internal controls. The General Ledger Accountant will work closely with members of the finance accounting teams to ensure that the financial records of the Company are accurate and prepared timely. To be successful, the candidate must be a high-energy, hands-on individual that can work independently and leverage prior operational and technical accounting expertise.

* Monthly closing activities, including journal entries, general ledger reconciliations and other accounting transactions * Maintain overall accuracy and integrity of the general ledger records and reconcile cash, investments, prepaid expenses and fixed and intangible assets * Maintain proper support and organization for transactions to support internal and external audits, including internal controls compliance * Assist with year-end financial and other audits * Research and resolve discrepancies with a focus on automation and process improvement * Develop, interpret and ensure the consistent application of financial policies * Be able to learn, adapt to and assist where needed in system implementations and upgrades * Assist in providing data and analysis as required by management, auditors and internal business partners * Special projects as assigned from time to time including technical research and new business initiatives research, and other duties as assigned

* 4-6 years of experience in corporate and/or public accounting * Bachelor’s degree in Accounting * In-depth understanding of accounting cycle, month-end close process and flow of financial information within the General Ledger * Solid understanding of US GAAP and ability to research technical accounting issues and provide appropriate recommendations * Attention to detail and ability to see tasks through to completion * Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize * Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to design and utilize effective spreadsheets * Self-motivated, deadline oriented, fast-learner, who is an organized, dedicated, hands-on team player with excellent problem-solving skills and comfortable with unstructured, dynamic environment **Desirable:** * CPA or actively pursuing CPA certification * “Big Four” experience * QuickBooks, NetSuite, SalesForce.com and EASi systems experience * Experience with software, software-as-a-service or related technology companies * Experience implementing processes to address Sarbanes-Oxley requirements * Strong curiosity and passion for technology and digital media
