Summary
The HR Generalist provides overall human resource and benefit administrative support to assigned location. This role is responsible for benefit administration, payroll, workers compensation, staffing, recruitment and general administration of human resource policies and practices. The Generalist actively analyzes and recommends changes to moderately complex location practices and ensures consistent application of HR laws, regulations and company policies. The ideal candidate is a detail oriented, customer service focused, problem solver that has a strong overall knowledge of HR practices, laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
* Manages benefit administration including answering questions, completing and filing necessary forms, employee training, new hire orientation and exit process, open enrollment, etc. * Manages payroll administration including time, tax and wage entry, processing of payroll information, garnishments, etc. * Screens, interviews, recommends hire actions and related documentation. * Analyzes effectiveness of recruitment and selection process and recommends changes. * Completes and files necessary forms, investigates accidents/incidents, and recommends action. * Manages miscellaneous program coordination including health fairs, banquets, picnics, attendance and recognition awards, etc. * Processes HR/Payroll related changes, profit sharing review and submission, provides merit pay and proper job classification recommendations to managers. * Works with managers to audit skills/competencies and recommends exiting development/training plans, performance management, and/or discipline to address skill or role deficiencies. * Recommends and conducts basic existing employee training – OSHA, sexual harassment, and other related HR training and documentation. * Facilitates employee and supervisor issue/conflict resolution. * Evaluates and administers FMLA and salary plan programs, employee council issue resolution and minutes, etc. * Investigates, analyzes and recommends changes/improvements to moderately complex processes and practices, discipline application and records, workers compensation, EEO, FMLA, FLSA, wage and salary, performance evaluation consolidation and reporting. * Other duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
* Advanced knowledge of company programs (benefits, payroll, compensation, workers compensation and human resource programs) * Advanced knowledge of human resources laws and regulations * Strong issue and conflict resolution skills * Strong problem solving skills * Ability to be assertive with employees and local management * Analysis, critical thinking and investigation skills * Customer service focused * Organized and detail oriented * Work independently and interact with all levels of employees (production and management) * Strong oral and written communications skills * Adept at building trusting relationships * Must be diplomatic * Self-starter that is adept at taking initiative **Education/Training Required:** * High School diploma or equivalent, college degree preferred * 3 years of HR/benefit/payroll administration experience * Advanced knowledge human resource laws and regulations * HR certification preferred (i.e., PHR, SPHR)
