Summary
Supports HR in various activities to include assisting employees, maintaining personnel data, payroll processing, hourly hiring, new employee orientation, filing , handling minor discipline issues, maintain attendance records, advise management on HR matters and other HR related duties.
Responsibilities
* Assists with administration and interpretation of company policies and procedures to keep employees informed of policies * Ensures compliance with federal, state and local employment laws, as well as Corporate and plant policies and procedures. * Partner with management to determine staffing needs, conduct interviews/selection of candidates and play an active role in hiring decision process; facilitates internal job postings and coordinates the hiring process for hourly vacancies. Reviews applicants, refers to supervisors, completes background checks, verifies SSN, arranges drug test and audiogram and offers position. * Prepares for and conducts new employee orientation. * Conducts initial investigations (e.g., harassment, policy violations, etc.) and advise management of findings and/or required actions to resolve day-to-day employee relations problems and protect CSM from legal liabilities. * Processes payroll on a weekly basis. Assists supervisors with payroll training and issues. * Maintains employee data in Enterprise/ADP by entering new hire information, changes, terminations, training data, etc. Runs reports. * Oversees the time and attendance and PTO systems. * Works with supervisors and employees to resolve employee relations matters. * Assists employees with benefits enrollment and answers benefits related questions. * Assists in location communications including signs, updating TV, announcements, etc. * Assists in providing training to employees. * Works with management to improve morale and maintain a union free work place. * Performs clerical duties such as retrieve and distribute mail, welcome visitors to plant and sign-in, filing, copying, etc. * Prepares accurate and professional reports and documents utilizing Word, Excel and PowerPoint. * Partners with corporate HR and payroll to ensure administration of company programs. * Supports safety programs and assists in the administration of programs. * Coordinates location employee relations events such as cookouts, employee recognition, safety celebrations, community involvement, etc. * Participates in plant GMP and safety audits and conducts locker inspections. * Follows all safety procedures and participates in safety training. Maintain safe and efficient use of equipment, tools, and person. Report any injury or accident immediately to supervisory and/or any unsafe condition. * Assists plant management in preparing plant for audits to ensure passing scores. * Supports, and complies with all quality management systems, continuous improvement programs, food safety, employee safety, preventative maintenance programs. * Supports and complies with GMP’s; participates in continuous improvement initiatives. * Other duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
**Knowledge/Competencies:** * High level of confidentiality. * Able to work in a production area with fast moving equipment, moderate to high noise levels and intermediate temperature changes. * Demonstrated ability to communicate at all levels * Good analytical and organization skills * Solid employee relations and staffing skills * Friendly and caring personality. * Ability to shift priorities on a very short notice. * Able to work outside of regular work schedule. * Knowledge of the HR field. **Skills/Work Experience:** * 3+ years professional HR experience required; manufacturing experience strongly preferred * PHR Certification is a plus * Knowledge and experience in employment law, Talent Acquisition, compensation organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, and training and development * Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite * Excellent communication skills (written & verbal) * Problem solving and decision making skills * Strong interpersonal and coaching skills **Education:** 4-year college degree in Human Resources or related field **Years of Experience:** 3+ years of experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
