Summary
The Payroll Specialist performs moderate to highly complex payroll duties, reports and audits per established standard processes and procedures in a multi-state environment; provides guidance and training to less experienced payroll assistants. Compiles and records associate time and payroll data. May compute associate hours worked. Responsible for posting wages, deductions and overtime. Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Responsibilities
* Compiles payroll data such as garnishments, vacation time, associate benefit and 401(k) deductions * Reviews Time and Attendance System (E-time software) and reviews the download information for completeness and accuracy * Verifies and audits hours worked for associates for accuracy, contacts various department supervisors for any discrepancies and missing information. * Compiles internal reports from Payroll System software * Review, research and respond to incoming payroll inquiries, ADP Service Requests and GSD Tickets pertaining to payroll * Participates in the bi-weekly processing of payroll by assisting with preparing pay data batches and uploading to Rapid Pay (RPDE) and reconciling the batch totals for payroll transmission * Completes Manual Check Requests for final pays or shortage of pay and obtain necessary approvals * Submits the necessary ADP forms to add data that has been dropped for new hires, rehires, and other job changes, transfers. i.e., direct deposits, pay rates, locations, taxes and terminations that ADP provides on the Daily Audit Report after the daily integration from Workday to ADP Connector is complete to ensure accuracy and timely processing * Audit employee data from Workday to Payforce for accuracy, i.e., pay rates, job titles, employment statuses, Cost Centers * Reviews garnishments in the ADP GENAS System and approve for processing and print any garnishments that require notarizations and signatures for proper handling. * Provides wage statements as requested * Maintains payroll information, files and records to provide an up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance * Researches discrepancies of payroll data such as time sheets, leave time, direct deposit requirements, benefit eligibility to ensure accuracy and adherence to procedures prior to processing * Creates ad hoc reports using ADP Reporting * Attends various seminars and workshops to gain and review labor law, government requirements, payroll regulations * Performs other related duties as required and assigned
Ideal Candidate
**Work Experience/Education Required:** * Must have at least two (2) years of related Payroll experience in a high-volume fast-paced team work environment * Must have a High School Diploma or GED * Bachelor’s degree a plus but not required * Exposure to Federal, State and local employment laws a plus but not required * Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) a plus but not required **Functional Knowledge and Business Expertise Required:** * Exposure to a networked environment using a Windows and/or Windows like interface, intermediate to advanced level of office suite such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point and Access * Ability to use Enterprise-wide information systems such as ADP and ReportSmith payroll and software applications; ability to use the 10-number key by touch
