Summary
Our Engagement team is a key part of our growth engine, and we're looking for someone with deep email and user engagement experience to help us grow our efforts in creating an unparalleled ecosystem of artists and buyers. This role is a blend of technical marketing, analytics and product management. You'll be based in San Francisco with occasional travel to the other locations.
Responsibilities
* Be accountable for the product roadmap and revenue goals of a sophisticated email marketing program with millions of subscribers * Drive activation, retention and referrals through multi-channel marketing automation programs (email, push notifications, in-app messaging, SMS, etc.) * Lead the transition from mass, batched email campaigns to 1-to-1, triggered emails * Collaborate with product managers and engineers to test and operationalize emails triggered by user browsing, searching, purchase behavior, implicit preferences and explicit preferences * Thoroughly understand and report on performance against goals and key performance indicators * Analyze and synthesize performance data; recommend and implement appropriate actions based on findings * Lead a team of email producers who code, generate recipient lists, perform quality assurance and schedule email campaigns * Develop and execute campaigns and promotions in email and other engagement channels * Develop testing strategy including goals, hypotheses, execution, measurement, interpretation of results and implementation of findings * Collaborate with designers and copywriters to enable them to deliver creative assets as needed * Contribute to company-wide education on email and push notifications; clearly articulate the value of the channel and best practices
Ideal Candidate
**About you:** * A technical marketer, marketing analyst or product manager working on email marketing or user engagement at a consumer internet or software company * Make good decisions based on a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience and judgement * Bright and intelligent and deal with concepts and complexity comfortably * Learn quickly when facing new problems; are a relentless and versatile learner; open to change; analyze successes and failures for clues to improvement; experiment and will try anything to find solutions; enjoy the challenge of unfamiliar tasks; quickly grasp the essence and underlying structure of anything * Use rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions; probe all fruitful sources for answers; can see hidden problems; are excellent at honest analysis; look beyond the obvious and don't stop at the first answer * Someone who can clearly explain the impact you made in your current and prior roles along with how and why it mattered to the business **What you’ll bring to the bubble:** * 7+ years of work experience, at least 2 of which are as a technical marketer or product manager focused on email or user engagement * Experience using email or marketing Automation software (e.g. Sailthru, Responsys, ExactTarget, Kahuna, Localytics, Marketo) and web/mobile app analytics (e.g. Google Analytics, Mixpanel) * Advanced knowledge of effective email marketing and user engagement strategies and a strong creative sensibility * Strong experience with pulling and manipulating data to prepare regular performance reports, synthesize results and make recommendations (some SQL is a bonus) * Advanced spreadsheet skills including functions, pivot tables, lookup tables, goal seek and scenarios
