Summary
Reporting to The Chief People Officer and working closely with the CEO and the entire senior leadership team, the Vice President, Total Rewards will be responsible for the continuous design, implementation, communication and administration of the company’s rewards functions including compensation, benefits, and Human Resources operations for both the domestic and international businesses of H&R Block. This thought leader will drive and provide the strategic direction for performance and rewards initiatives company-wide. This individual will create and maintain global position and compensation infrastructure to support the attraction, retention, and motivation of employees worldwide, develop, and continuously improve incentive and bonus plan design(s) that best fit with the organizational culture, priorities, and business model. This leader will also oversee and manage the administration of all benefit programs and ensure that the Human Resources systems strategy and execution successfully positions the organization for continuous growth. This individual will partner with executive leadership to ensure that all programs support the organization’s strategic objectives, are competitive, cost effective and in compliance with legal requirements. This role will work collaboratively with the legal team to manage the Executive Compensation rewards platform, assist the Compensation Committee of the Board in managing the senior executive compensation programs and equity incentive plan, and preparing annual proxy materials and other SEC-related disclosures. The new Vice President will be the business owner for an enterprise-wide technology refresh, moving from PeopleSoft 8.0, enabling HR to deliver more efficiently and effectively its core services while enabling a shift to become a more strategic business partner.
Responsibilities
* Oversee and manage Human Resources operations including payroll and payroll tax teams for a workforce in excess of 100,000 during peak business cycles. * Manage and administer the company’s global Human Resources “people” management platform – currently PeopleSoft but in an active RFP for replacement. This individual will have end-to-end system responsibility and will lead the efforts to determine business requirements and the design and implementation of Human Resources information management solutions. * Lead project management for HRMS including project development, management of financial, technical and resource requirements, and implementation of best practices and innovative solutions. * Interface and partner with IT organization to ensure the effective integration of HRMS with other business applications.
Ideal Candidate
* A minimum of 15 years of broad based and progressive experience designing and managing global compensation, benefits, and HRMS programs. * Demonstrated track record of designing and developing compensation strategies and plans in a public company environment, to include: executive compensation, pay-for-performance, short-term incentive planning, long-term equity pay programs, deferred compensation programs, employee stock purchase, and other compensation vehicles. * Must be a leader who can inspire their team to a vision and lead them at all times in accordance with the HRB core value of “do the right thing.” Previous experience leading, managing, and building teams in a fasted paced dynamic environment. High energy and drive to create an environment of continuous improvement. * Ability to plan, design and administer across a global organization. * Knowledge of state-of-the-art thinking and practices in compensation, benefits, and HRMS with the ability and willingness to dive deep and rollup up one’s sleeves. * Ability to interact easily across all levels within the organization; tactful; mature; flexible. High level of collaboration and influencing skills. Strong planning, organization, delegation, and decision-making abilities. * Ability to achieve goals through influencing, partnering, and developing productive relationships with senior leadership and line managers across the business. Be recognized as the “go to” person for all compensation and benefits issues. Self-starter with a proactive and inquisitive nature who can anticipate and preempt problems. * Experience with due diligence, mergers and acquisitions, Sarbanes-Oxley, 409A, revised SEC regulations and other organizational change and regulatory requirements. * Bachelors Degree in Human Resources or related field is required. Master’s Degree in related field or MBA preferred.
