Summary
The Director of Human Resources will be a trusted advisor to the team and strive to foster a best-in-class employment experience. The Director will provide ongoing guidance to every level of employee in both our engineering and non-technical teams. Responsibilities
**Training & Development:** * Coach managers in best practices within areas such as: leadership, communication and feedback, career path, succession planning, performance management, and compliance * Provide regular day-to-day guidance to managers and staff around ad-hoc employment issues * Provide training in a variety of areas of employment matters, including leadership, performance, compliance, sensitivity, and harassment. **Employee Relations:** * Build and execute strategies for retention and achieve 'best place to work' environment by conducting employee surveys, ensuring effective communication, ensuring effective training is available, incorporating best practices, and staying on top of trends specific to our industry, the areas in which we operate, and in HR as a whole. * Roll out and manage key initiatives including: performance review program, peer reviews, recognition programs, etc. * Plan, kick-off and manage employee team building activities, i.e. company vacations, offsites, Lunch & Learns, brown bags **Onboarding:** * Work closely with recruiting team to orchestrate new hire orientation schedule and continuously enrich new hire onboarding experience * Provide comprehensive new hire content and materials, ensuring efficient and productive onboarding * Verify completion, compliance and accuracy/reporting of all employee data **Compensation and Benefits administration:** * Conduct periodic compensation analysis and make appropriate recommendations * Conduct annual bid process for employee benefits, analyze options and make recommendations to executive staff * Organize and administer annual Open Enrollment and renewals * Provide company-wide communications and employee service on all related plans * Serve as the primary point of contact for benefits inquiries for a growing organization * Collaborate with Finance team to ensure accuracy in payroll **Compliance:** * Guide staff on various employment policies and processes to ensure appropriate legal compliance (EEO, ADA, FMLA, Workers’ Compensation, COBRA, etc.) * Maintain all internal compliance communications * Ensure employee files are in compliance with all requirements of city/county, state and federal programs regulating employment as well as licensing, regulatory and contract compliance * Regularly update Employee Handbook and all communication around employment and benefits issues; partner with management team on implementation of new policies and procedures * Coordinate the immigration process in partnership with outside counsel
Ideal Candidate
**Necessary Skills and Experience** * 10+ years of progressive HR or People Operations experience within high-growth technology startups * PHR-CA/SPHR-CA designation * BA/BS degree with emphasis in HR or equivalent combination of degree and experience * Experienced administering full employee lifecycle from hire to separation; performance management, leaves of absence, immigration, relocation * Experience with compensation, stock option and benefits plan administration * Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of compliance issues - federal/state (specific to CA) employment law, policies and procedures * Willingness and excitement about "getting hands dirty” with regards to day to day HR functions to help employees (benefits inquiries, administrative tasks, setting up new hires, etc) * High attention to detail and data driven * Highly ethical individual, strong level of confidentiality with a natural tendency toward discreteness * Strong service orientation with commitment to providing excellent employee experience * Approachable, empathetic person with sound judgment and problem solving ability * Excellent communication skills: interpersonal, relationship building, consulting, and teamwork Able to work well with employees of all levels within the company * Sensitive to and proactively works toward the cultural diversity of employees * Highly organized, adaptable, able to flourish in fast-paced startup environment * Proficiency with office productivity tools such as: Google Apps, MS Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Paylocity, Greenhouse **Beneficial Skills and Experience** * International HR experience: EMEA, APAC; specifically French employment law and standards * Experience with employee performance tracking * Experience implementing and administering HRIS * Demonstrated ability to hire and lead a team dedicated to success
