Summary
The Marketing Communications Specialist is responsible for supporting the consumer marketing team, including taking on responsibilities in public relations, corporate communications, blogging, and social media. The Marketing Communications Specialist will be tasked with crafting news pitches, press releases, and creative content to secure media opportunities with local, national, and trade press. He/she will also write blog posts, write and schedule social media posts, craft corporate communications copy, and participate in creative brainstorms, as needed. The Marketing Communications Specialist will be required to work cross-functionally to gain a deep understanding of GoHealth’s products, services, and business objectives in order to develop strategic communications to position GoHealth as a top brand in the health insurance and technology spaces. The Marketing Coordinator will need to interact with clients, senior leaders, and employees across various business units.
Responsibilities
* Develop and implement strategic PR programs to increase brand visibility, support business objectives and protect the corporate brand. * Identify and handle outreach to key media outlets and influencers; distribute press releases on the news wire. * Write and edit a variety of marketing materials, including press releases, news pitches, blogs, social media posts, and corporate communication materials. * Grow social media accounts for both GoHealth and additional health and wellness brand, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn * Identify media trends, news cycles, and storytelling opportunities. * Participate in creative brainstorms and come up with original project ideas.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s Degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or journalism. * 1-2 years experience in similar field preferred. * Excellent communications skills – both written and oral. * Avid consumer of news, politics, and pop culture. * Strong news judgment and decision-making skills. * Proficient in MS Office and social media software such as Sprout Social. * Expert level experience with Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. * Ability to produce accurate and high-quality work in a fast-paced environment. * Exceptional organizational and project management skills. * Experience in the health care or health insurance industry is a plus.
