(New York, New York)TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages. Meanwhile, independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world.
We’re looking for a smart, creative social media professional to help us develop new audiences and increase engagement. TED has over 27 million followers across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn -- and we’ve grown by 379% in the last three years. We’re still growing quickly, and we’re looking for someone who wants to help shape our voice and social presence as it evolves. We’re a tiny team at a fast-paced company, so we wear a lot of different hats and experiment constantly. You’ll fit in if you love taking on new challenges; feel comfortable taking risks; adapt quickly when things don’t work; take ownership with confidence; and manage your time effectively.
- Develop an Ambassador program, or a community of engaged TED fans and influencers that is empowered to help amplify TED content
- Develop targeted social campaigns for key initiatives
- Create and manage social accounts that cultivate new audiences and expand TED’s brand
- Prior experience developing and sustaining an engaged online community
- Some experience in media or journalism
- Spanish-language fluency a plus
