Summary
General Mills is seeking Senior Leader talent to join our Convenience & Foodservice Sales organization. Possible positions could include sales territory and people leadership roles such as a Market Manager or Zone Manager, or an individual contributor role as a National Account Manager where you are responsible for developing and leading a specific channel strategy for the organization. The majority of our roles are field based working from a home office in your respective market; some reside in Minneapolis, MN at General Mills Headquarters. Location examples include Austin, Houston, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Baltimore or Washington, DC.
Responsibilities
**National Account Management Responsibilities** In these roles you will lead a specific channel strategy. Examples of channels include Foodservice distributors, Convenience Stores, Healthcare, Lodging, K-12, Retailer Bakeries, etc. You will be responsible for the development and support some of our largest national accounts where you will lead and maximize business results and build out our sales strategy within your specific channel of expertise. Additionally, these positions play an integral role in influencing the General Mills cross functional team to ensure business results exceed expectations. In these roles you will: * Develop strategic customer business plans to achieve annual volume and profit objectives * Ensure development and execution of profitable customer strategy and plan * Penetrate the customer at all levels of the organization leveraging General Mills capabilities * Coordinate and lead the execution of customer appointments in presenting new products, programs, pricing, and general management of our business * Develop a customer specific sales activation plan * Leverage trade investment to achieve volume targets * Create excellent working relationships with your channel customer(s) to assist General Mills in applying our capabilities across the organization to drive category growth * Provide leadership within the Convenience & Foodservice segment by collaborating with cross functional teams **Sales Territory/People Leadership Responsibilities** In these roles you will be responsible for all Convenience & Foodservice channel sales activities within your specific zone/market/territory. Your primary responsibilities will be to lead a team of General Mills sales employees to achieve the key deliverables of the organization while building a solid foundation for future growth. Activities include but are not limited to sales and customer management, program execution, budgeting, forecasting, communication, and people development for their markets. The need to coordinate efforts with other sales development managers and the national account team to ensure produce and account penetration are maximized will be a cornerstone of success. In these roles you will: * Oversee execution of customer division-level and local programs by working with key distributors and customers * Develop and execute strategies that address key business opportunities * Work in conjunction with sales managers to drive sales through program co-ordination, execution and information sharing * Lead sales managers and/or their teams in the development of business plans that deliver strategies consistent with the Convenience & Foodservice business strategies * Ensure the success of new products through implementation of national focused promotions and programs * Develop strong relationships with key customer regional managers, distributors and operators * Manage a team of sales employees within a given market/territory * Partner with employees to address each individual’s key developmental opportunities to maximize their career potential by driving the General Mills performance management processes * Responsible for the management and proper investment of monies within the stated budgets including T&E and management of trade budget * Accountable for monitoring, analyzing, forecasting and reporting for territory of coverage
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s Degree required * Minimum of 7 - 10 years of Foodservice sales or Foodservice Channel sales experience required * Previous people management experience necessary * Experience in management of foodservice distributors and /or distributor headquarters a plus * Percent of travel approximately 30-50% * Openness to relocating for a traditional sales career path in the future * Strong Financial Management Skills * Self starter with a strategic mindset, problem solving and analytical skills
