Responsibilities
The VP of People will have the mandate to double our team while establishing the right frameworks for developing people once on-board. You will work with our executive team to plan short, medium, and long-term people needs and put in place the resources and plans to get those people on the team. As the team grows, you will lead the organization to continue to deliver best-in-class on-boarding, orientation, and training to ensure our values and norms grow with the team. Also as the team grows, you will drive our approach to people development, rewarding and growing our high standards of performance while ensuring our leaders have the right tools to nurture the team to the highest performance possible. This is a new role on a growing team and is indicative of the investment we are making in growing and developing people to be the cornerstone of our company and what we envision to accomplish.
Ideal Candidate
* 7+ years of human resources experience, particularly in recruiting, retention, performance management, and organizational design * Track record of building successful teams and organizations * Deep appreciation for the importance of team design and people alignment (you really believe what you do drives business results and creates long-term value) * Strong interest in our mission and vision, and opinions on the fundamentals that drive our industry * Experience leading cross-functional teams * Self-starter and very comfortable setting your own agenda * Despite being a self-starter, you’re a collaborator at heart. You understand how trade-offs are made to optimize outcomes across business objectives and you use great communication skills to get buy-in for your recommended processes * Roll-up-your-sleeves mentality – we’re a small team (at least until you join), and everyone including our executive team gets their hands dirty to get stuff done. * Expert multi-tasking – you’ll be going after multiple opportunities every hour of every day. You will remain undaunted, organized and juggle these tasks without letting the ball drop. You will know how to ruthlessly prioritize your time * Professional but not stuffy – we’re sharp and competent but also fun * Sense of urgency – you want to “go, move, make things happen, and shake things up!” * Nimble – able to handle changing tasks and priorities and adapt quickly
