Responsibilities
- Our next Director of Development and Marketing requires 10-15 years of fundraising experience and will be part of the leadership team. - The DDM coordinates engagement and solicitation of a portfolio of major donors as well as manages a strong development team. - She or he will demonstrate a range of skills and abilities that contribute to strategic and operational planning, continued growth, and sustainability of the organization. - This person will be an advocate for children facing the highest risks. - The Director of Development and Marketing (DDM) works with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and is a liaison to the Board Development and Marketing/PR Committees.
Ideal Candidate
- Ability to research, design/develop, strategize, implement and sustain fundraising to advance the organization’s profile in the community and maximize resource development efforts - Proven experience to generate appointments, make an ask, and close a major gift solicitation with all types of donors; demonstrated ability to exercise appropriate judgment and discretion while in the midst of such meetings. - Working knowledge and experience in the Portland-Metro philanthropic and business communities from which funding is to be raised. - Growth mindset and focus on innovation. - Commitment to helping Friends of the Children increase revenue every year to serve more children. - Demonstrated ability to articulate our mission and make persuasive presentations to all levels of prospective donors and members of the community. - Ability to cultivate and sustain relationships and work effectively with a wide variety of constituencies, including staff, program children, organizational supporters, current and potential donors, Board members, and community partners. - Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. - Outstanding organizational and time management, delegation and follow-up skills. - Proven ability to solve problems, work in a team environment, and meet deadlines and budgets. - Strong program management, strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting skills, and the ability to anticipate problems.
