Responsibilities
**Position Summary** Under the limited supervision of the SVP, Chief Marketing Officer, the Senior Director, Creative Services is responsible for the translation of 4-H’s marketing strategies and objectives into creative ideas, plans and designs that support and leverage brand and key assets. The role will build, lead, mentor, grow, and inspire a creative team of junior and senior designers. Responsibilities also include the development of creative services strategies for 4-H brand positioning and campaign, corporate & cause programs, thought leadership and public relations, digital support, video communications, Center and Supply businesses, Council mission support units, and marketing services in conjunction with our partners across the Cooperative Extension System. **Responsibilities** **Council Leadership and Business Management Practices** - Work with CMO, marketing supervisors and human resources to provide innovative leadership and direction resulting in improved management of staff and processes to generate high ROI and workflow optimization, National 4-H is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer. including active participation in development of annual performance accountabilities and professional development opportunities - Oversee development of budgets, concept development, creative direction, production timelines and distribution methods - Ensure all work supports and aligns with 4-H’s brand position and architecture, and achieves strategic brand goals - Oversee fulfillment of all administrative and organizational requirements of department, including staffing, and development of design staff with focus on teamwork, initiative, high-level customer service, follow-through, and product delivery - Oversee job trafficking to Design Directors, and monitor through project completion - Manage professional development of Design staff, including charts of work, performance evaluations and growth opportunities - Oversee the management of photography services, including hiring photographers, laying the groundwork for photo-shoots and directing photo-shoots. Provide photo archiving support - Oversee budget requirements and monitoring in regard to staffing, computer purchasing, computer maintenance and software upgrades **Creative Services Strategy** - Lead the 4-H creative vision across Council and partnerships executing our brand promise creatively through attributes, manifestos, color theory, typography, color ratios, visual identity guidelines, creative trainings, logotypes, and other creative practices - Build and lead a growing team of creative designers through guidance, coaching and support to help develop their design skills, customer feedback interpretation acumen and professional abilities - Represent and advise other department’s initiatives with creative ideas and strategies aligned with Marketing goals, seeking to build mutually beneficial relationships towards organizational goals - In collaboration with CMO, and marketing functional leads, help determine and implement ways to build 4-H brand campaign aligned with organizational goals, including concept, implementation and communication strategies - In collaboration Resource Development team, provide creative services strategies shaping and implementing fundraising opportunities integrated with Marketing properties and communication channels including across corporate and cause partnerships, online giving - Working closely with Council’s unique business units in driving creative design vision and support to 4-H Mall and its suite of products and initiatives as well as 4-H Conference Center, a unique youth and adult leadership and hospitality center - Support the Digital Marketing team’s work in digital design and communication strategies, creating a strong online presence that promotes 4-H, engages consumers and stakeholders, creates donation opportunities, cultivates donors, and increases traffic and activity to all 4-H online properties **Video Responsibilities** - Establish robust video function area for 4-H, providing video services and collaboration for internal departments, corporate sponsors and agency partners. Video requirements include concept to distribution, ensuring top-level video productions - Manage/supervise video contracts and contractors; coordinate budget requirements and approval processes - Oversee video projects from conception to completion; including marketing and distribution of deliverables - Guide in-house video pre- and post-production process, ensuring seamless coordination with project managers, and the production and delivery of high-quality results - Support producer/contractor and production staff to examine scripts or program ideas, create storyboards, draw up a shooting schedule and estimate cost National 4-H is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer. ? Support/manage on- and off-location video shoots, including video at press and media events, conferences & dinners **Field Marketing Support** - Collaborate with Field Marketing team, to support creative offering to the field from Council including but not limited to posters, PSAs, logo development, guidelines, photography/video, iconography, consults, etc - Manage/consult third party initiatives under Marketing; project management includes such services as templates, print-on-demand web solutions, audio services (e.g. on-hold messaging), and signage/billboard program - Partner as a lead with USDA/NIFA collaboration on 4-H Name and Emblem - Represent Creative Services at major 4-H events (Conferences, meetings, events and trainings, etc.) **Vendor Management** - Assure acquisition of competitive bids and quotes for all projects where required (contractors, printers, web development, photo shoots, etc.) - Develop and maintain third party vendor relationships
Ideal Candidate
**Qualifications** - Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Design and Production - 10 -15 years of experience in the creative field with at least five years in a Management/Supervision role - Experience with creative strategy development and management of an in-house design department or agency equivalent, including oversight and management of multiple projects, campaigns and staff - Extensive knowledge of print/web/video design standards and tools required - Knowledge of executive level conceptual development, practices and procedures in print/web/video design industry - Strong creative and design skills with proven experience in developing visuals designs, logos and concepts as well as providing others strategic and tactical art direction - Ability to delegate and manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines - Excellent verbal and written communication skills as a team leader and ability to communicate project demands to staff, corporate partners and third party vendors - Ability to identify simple and complex design & production problems, scheduling and budget requirements and offer solutions based on project resources - Understanding of industry standard programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, Dreamweaver, Flash, Final Cut Pro and other design software and associated file formats.)
