Summary
Provide support to Accounting Manager and Controller in all areas relating to financial reporting and general accounting functions. Supervises the accounting staff and provides hands-on training of employees.
Responsibilities
* Provide supervision and training to new and existing accounting staff as needed. Handle staff work schedule, personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, performance issues, and absenteeism. * Assist Accounting Manager in managing the accounting team and reviewing all work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. * Assist and coordinate with accounting staff to perform internal audits. * Supervise payroll function and ensure the accuracy of bi-weekly payroll. * Provide support and preparation for annual budget and yearly fiscal audit. * Prepare preliminary month end financial statements in a timely manner for review by Controller. * Assist with the calculation of management/central rate and budget rates for allocation to cost centers and generate a draft of month end profit and loss statements for review by Controller. * Generate month-end profit and loss statements and oversee distribution of reports. * Assist in reconciling balance sheet, income statement, profit and loss statements and general ledger for review by Controller. * Assist Accounting Manager in maintaining general ledger accounts and financial reporting formats. * Handle complex inquiries for all internal and external clients. * Reconciliation of corporation bank statement, stop payments and other banking activities. * Perform P&L; analysis, compliance and governmental reporting, and monitor internal controls. * Other responsibilities as assigned. * Participates in abortion services (participation can include referrals, information, education, counseling, performing, scheduling, etc.). Ideal Candidate
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related fields or equivalent work experience required. Minimum 5 years of accounting work experience including a minimum of 3 years supervising accounting staff preferably in a nonprofit or health care setting. Strong experience in general ledger, fund accounting, financial reporting and analysis, budget, and year-end audit preparation. Must be proficient in MS Excel, Word, Outlook and accounting software. Prefer experience with Great Plains, MS Access, Pivot Table, Ceridian Payroll, and Crystal Reports. Strong interpersonal skills, effective communicator, team leader and the ability to handle multiple tasks required.
