Summary
The Financial Analyst interacts & provides financial support to all departments within the Functional Additives BU, primarily in Arkema Inc. The Functional Additives Americas BU with ’16B consolidated sales of $180M and a 2016 budgeted REX of $13M. Manufacturing sites: 3 in the U.S, 1 in Mexico, 1 in Brazil.
Responsibilities
- **Monthly Reporting and Analysis** – Work the Regional Finance Mgrs. to consolidate the BU’s Americas results and prepare the monthly earnings package. Participate in the regional monthly review meetings where applicable. - **Forecasting** – Prepare the Arkema Inc. 3 month forecast of operational results, working with business managers, sales and marketing team, logistics, purchasing, accounting, and manufacturing to identify significant trends. - **Planning** – Engage in the annual Business Review process for Arkema Inc. Maintains the Regional BU planning models to reflect the business global plan. - **Budgeting** – Facilitate the annual Budget process for Arkema Inc. Maintains the Regional BU budget models. - **Financial Analysis** –Work with management and project teams focusing on economic modeling & cash flow projections that relate to profitability improvement projects, cost savings analysis, Portfolio Mgt and Gate projects. - Assists in the preparation of data requests from Executive, Legal, Tax, & Insurance. - Continual review and improvement of existing reporting systems, both from an IT and reporting standpoint. - Work on emerging issues and Ad-hoc reporting where necessary. - Supports the Americas Finance Director **Context and environment** - Five profit centers, with different products, markets and manufacturing processes globally. - Americas Region consisting of 4 entities and 5 manufacturing facilities. - Must work with Accounting, Logistics, Marketing, and Production to jointly accomplish a goal, gather data, or convince/persuade people to buy into his/her plan. - Works with Finance and the Business teams to integrate information on a regional basis with effective relationship building to develop effective business decisions. - **Time management:** In supporting the Additives Business Group, assistance is often requested on several projects simultaneously. Assignments must be prioritized and time allocated based on deadlines and complexity of the analysis. Reporting deadlines set by DCCG in Paris and other regions must be respected despite time and cultural differences. - **Data Sensitivity:** This position has significant interaction with the BU’s Sr. management. In this context the analyst will see extremely sensitive data such as Global BU Quarterly results before investors, and business scenarios or decisions that may call for headcount reduction and possibly acquisitions or divestitures of business. It is important that the analyst communicate cautiously when dealing with these types of issues. - **Special Projects:** Frequent needs for financial analysis of particular areas of a business arise, challenging the analyst because of the potential impact of the analysis. **Accountabilities** - The Financial Analyst will Insure monthly operating results are communicated in a timely and accurate manner to business management. - Make improvements to reporting, forecasting, planning and budget processes, models, and presentations. - Assist business and project teams with financial analysis as needed, including Gate projects. - Insure that the Business Review and Budget processes are streamlined and accurate.
Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s Degree in a business or engineering discipline, preferably finance. - MBA preferred - 5- 7 years experience - - Ops Acctg/Plant experience - - Accounting/financial exp. - - Cost accounting knowledge - Advanced MS Excel skills required, SAP & BW - experience strongly desired. Business Object experience is a plus. - Analytical and time management skills are a must. - Strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to interact with all business functions and levels of management. - Comfortable dealing with international issues. - Business understanding or desire to learn the business. - Ability to work independently and pull together required resources to resolve issues. **Competencies and Expected Behaviors** - Maintain a reputation for being unbiased in all analysis and recommendations. - Trusted source for the entire team to obtain financial information. - Trusted source to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. - Effectively document work processes to ensure consistency and repeatability of analyses and resulting output. - Competency in working with multiple organizations with multiple priorities while having to meet fixed deadlines.
