AEG Live, the live-entertainment division of Los Angeles-based AEG, is dedicated to all aspects of live contemporary music performance: touring, one-offs, broadcasts, sponsorship, festivals, special events with seventeen regional offices and thirty-seven state-of the-art venues.
Summary
The Director of Event Sales is responsible for proactively marketing and selling L.A. LIVE venues for special events, meetings, parties, social celebrations, private dining, etc. to a diversified local, regional and national market. The venues of focus include, but are not limited to, The Event Deck, Microsoft Square, Target Terrace, Chick Hearn Court, Regal Cinemas L.A. LIVE and Microsoft Theater, with support in selling events at Club Nokia, STAPLES Center, The GRAMMY Museum, L.A. LIVE hotel ballrooms and various L.A. LIVE restaurants. The Director will oversee strategy for growing overall Event Sales business and will be expected to exceed personal annual revenue goals for event rentals and catering.
Responsibilities
* Research lists and make outbound phone calls to DMCs, event planners, local companies and convention attendees. Also research other existing annual events and pursue the event planner to pitch them on moving event to L.A. LIVE L.A. LIVE. * Cultivate relationships with LATCB, LACC, L.A. LIVE hotels and Wolfgang Puck Catering to collaborate on bringing large-scale events to Los Angeles and ultimately to recommend and sell the prime L.A. LIVE event spaces. Work with hotels on initiatives that drive room nights * Join relevant networking associations and attend events to generate new leads * Manage budget and develop/maintain system to track sales and forecast event rental and catering revenues * Create and implement a measurable customer service plan that helps L.A. LIVE retain and repeat business. The service plan will focus on extraordinary service from the time a lead originates through the post-event follow-up. * Conduct site visits, familiarization tours and walk-throughs with prospects and clients. The Director will be expected to quickly learn the details and FAQs of all our venues in order to impress the prospects with unwavering knowledge. * Work with event production team to create budget estimates. Create and send customer proposals and draft/finalize event contracts. * Work with L.A. LIVE Marketing and AEG Creative teams to develop and update (digital) marketing materials that create brand awareness for our venues and sales decks that can be tailored to specific prospects. Also, work with Marketing team on strategies for promoting our venues through traditional and non-traditional media * Prepare for and conduct quarterly meetings with LATCB, Wolfgang Puck Catering and L.A. LIVE hotels. Meetings will focus on recapping the previous quarter, forecasting the upcoming calendar and discussing areas for improvement. * Host prospects and clients at sport and entertainment events throughout L.A. LIVE. Work within budget and determine opportunities for hosting one-on-one meetings and group events. * Proactively pursue and understand our competition and its effect on our success in the marketplace. Recommend strategies to adapt to the marketplace. * Attend relevant tradeshows and important out-of-town prospecting opportunities and represent L.A. LIVE in partnership with LATCB. * Assist in the tickets, VIP packages and suite sales of events at STAPLES Center and Microsoft Theater.
Ideal Candidate
* A minimum education level of: Bachelor of Arts/Sciences Degree (4-year) in Hospitality Management, Public Relations, Communications, Business Administration or a related area * A minimum of 5 years of related work experience (i.e. event sales, catering sales, event planning, DMC sales) * Working knowledge of catering and event production * Ability to keep detailed and organized files, contracts, reports and all financial records * Ability to multi-task and work flexible hours, including weekends * Strong customer service skills and knowledge of industry/trade standards * Self-motivator who can work within a team environment * Excellent presentation and communication skills, both oral and written * Proficiency in industry software/apps, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) * Must maintain a neat, well-groomed and professional appearance * Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time * Bilingual (English/Spanish) language skills preferred
