Summary
The accounts receivable clerk performs data entry and related operations in posting accounts receivable payments. Maintains appropriate ledgers and sub ledgers, resolves credit balances and account problems; posts refunds, adjustments, and other account actions. Performs collection activities on all delinquent accounts.
Responsibilities
* Coordinates, processes and documents cash receipts (checks, lock box, credit card, and direct deposit). * Billing/invoicing of all credit card and certain non-routine sales. * Interfaces with billing staff to determine billing corrections, and adjusts accounting software accordingly. * Assists medicare billing staff in processing insurance billing. * Reconciles all monthly purchase invoices. * Updates and maintains all accounts receivable filing. * Reports weekly a/r aging and cash receipts to sales representatives and executive management. * Analyzes ar aging report to determine delinquent accounts and appropriate collection strategy (may interface with executive management/sales rep on special accounts). * Contacts delinquent accounts by telephone or letter, notifying them of legal obligation to pay * Answers questions to resolve short pays and account problems * Negotiates and obtains voluntary payment of accounts * Advises debtors of payment options and actions that may result from non-payment of debt * Documents all collection activities
Ideal Candidate
* High school dimploma or g.e.d. equivilent * 1+ year(s) accounts receivable experience preferred. * Ability to disseminate, analyze, and report data. * Working knowledge of accounting software (sage, peachtree, quickbooks, etc.) Preferred. * Strong organizational skills. * Strong interpersonal skills (interface with every position within the organization, customers). * Strong attention to detail.
