Responsibilities

Acorns is seeking a Sr. Accounting and Finance Manager to help contribute to the end-to-end, timely and accurate financial reporting process including record compilation, reconciliation, month end close, result analytics, internal and external reporting. This candidate will help define, develop and drive Acorns’ internal accounting policies and ensure overall consistency to the Accounting and Finance function.

Description

  • Oversee daily accounting operations including oversight of accounts payable and payroll
  • Manage preparation of monthly financial statements and related footnote disclosures
  • Assist with the month-end and year-end close; creating, maintaining and posting all monthly recurring journal entries and non-recurring journal entries
  • Ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with U.S. GAAP reporting requirements and company policies.
  • Maintain internal controls
  • Monitor and analyze monthly operating results
  • Assist with preparation of annual audits/tax compliance reporting
  • Develop and implement new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department
  • Assist COO and Director of Finance with ad hoc financial reporting analysis and requests
Ideal Candidate
  • Bachelor’s in Accounting from a top-tier university
  • 5-7 years experience working at a major/mid-level accounting firm and/or for a public/venture-backed company
  • Previous experience with a technology startup preferred
  • CPA certification highly preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of Quickbooks and related accounting software
  • Expert in Microsoft Excel
  • Thorough understanding of financial reporting and a general ledger structure
  • Extensive knowledge and understand of US GAAP reporting requirements
  • Talent for analyzing financial data and preparing financial reports and statements
  • Strong reconciliation and accounting process knowledge
  • Dedication to collaboration, process improvement and innovation
  • Effectively work on multiple projects with demanding deadlines
  • Resourceful and committed to excellence
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
