Responsibilities
As a Junior Accountant, you will primarily be responsible for the efficient and accurate review of daily cash receipts postings, including preparation of intermediate to advanced journal entries and account reconciliations. Desirable candidates will be able to effectively: * Prepare manual feeds to accounting software and transmit all checks to the bank * Complete supervisor’s daily responsibilities when supervisor is unavailable or at the instruction of the supervisor * Provide backup and support to Accounts Receivable clerks in processing cash receipts, posting cash receipts, and daily cash reconciliations * Enter data into and maintain several Excel spreadsheets * Assemble and process summaries and update information as necessary * Analyze reports and resolve discrepancies within limits of authority * Review and evaluate existing procedures and operations in assigned area and make suggestions regarding improvements * Perform other duties and ad hoc projects as assigned
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s degree in accounting from a four year college or university is highly preferred * Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or a related field; 3-5 years of experience is preferred, and 5-8 years’ experience will be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree * Leadership skills/experience is a plus Solid, demonstrable understanding of accounting concepts * Ability to organize and self-prioritize in a fast paced environment with adherence to demanding internal and external deadlines * Excellent analytical and problem solving talent is essential * Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are necessary * Thoroughness and attention to detail are critical for success in this role * Working knowledge of PCs and programs including Microsoft Office Suite and Peachtree
