Project Drawdown
(Sausalito, California)Project Drawdown describes when and how humanity can reach climate drawdown, the point at which greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere begin to decline on a year-to-year basis, by mapping and modeling how one hundred existing, substantive solutions can continue to scale over the next three decades.
The Accounts and HR Officer will be responsible for various accounting and human resource needs, as well as supporting the Project Drawdown directors (Paul Hawken, Amanda Ravenhill, and Chad Frischmann). This is a part-time position, and will require approximately 20 hours per week.
Accounting (~85% of responsibilities)
- Process all financial transactions using the organization's chart of accounts via QuickBooks Online
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date chart of accounts
- Conduct bank reconciliations
- Support financial reporting obligations to grant-making organizations
- Prepare relevant financial documentation for reporting and filings, including donor financial reports, monthly and quarterly financial statements, internal reports for the senior management, and financial documents for audits and 990 filing
- Assist with quarterly and year-end closings
- Adhere to established accounting policies and procedures, and ensure the following of strict internal financial controls
Human Resources (~15% of responsibilities)
- Support human resource needs for a small staff
- Assist with payroll filing
- Assist with setting up and maintaining employee benefits
- Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of accounting/bookkeeping experience, including general ledger posting and reconciliation
- 2+ year of experience working with nonprofit accounting
- Knowledge and understanding of standard accounting practices
- Experience with relevant accounting software
Preferred:
- High proficiency in Excel
- Experience working with QuickBooks Online
- Strong communication skills, including experience preparing clear, compelling, and high quality reports and presentations
- Time management and organizational skills
- Capable of meeting deadlines and working with large groups of people
