Summary
The Technical Writer I is responsible for writing and developing written, technical instructions and manuals for company products to submit for proofing and publication. The incumbent will use observed and learned knowledge of product lines to develop user-friendly publications.
Responsibilities
* Prepare operational and maintenance manuals, instructions, and other technical publications for company products.
* Gather necessary technical information and use various supplements such as drawings, reports, and test specifications for components and products.
* Assist in coordinating and finalizing publication layouts and organization.
* Communicate with other writers, technicians, and possibly engineers to verify accuracy and readability of writings.
* Perform necessary revisions and corrections to new and previously published materials.
* Write clearly and informatively, edit own work for spelling and grammar, and vary writing style to meet customer needs.
* Continuously expand understanding and knowledge of company lines and products.
* Perform other activities as needed.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s Degree (Emphasis in English Composition or Professional Writing) preferred
* Prior experience with technical writing strongly preferred
* Ability to present information from oral, written, or diagram form into concise documents
* Effective communication skills
* Basic mathematical skills and metric conversion abilities
* Strong problem solving skills
* Effective computer skills, especially MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Quark, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat
* Ability to work under minimal supervision
**Education**
* Associate Degree
**Years of Experience**
* Minimum of 1 year related work experience
