Summary
Responsible for assisting in the supervision of the plant’s finance department responsibilities while developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures. Assists Complex Finance Manager with day-to-day accounting activities, general ledger, financial reporting, product costing, results analysis, budgeting and forecasting, while ensuring accurate and timely financial statements.
Responsibilities
**Responsibilities And Tasks:** * Assist in preparation and analysis of reporting related to key performance indicators. Reporting covers all facets of operations with emphasis on financial and production related analysis. Thorough understanding of the variances and work with complex management staff to drive improvements. * Supervise and lead accounting department employees. Train, mentor and develop direct reports. * Assist with the coordination and submission of annual operating plan. * Assist in preparation of weekly manufacturing/conversion costs per business segment including weekly profit and loss (P&L). * Oversee monthly closing process and issuance of performance and financial reports. * Assist in preparation of month end reconciliations of all accounts, processing of employee sales and payroll. * Actively participate in site initiatives and provide analysis as requested. * Review and approve payment invoices. * Assist in review of plant operations and performance, and be able to research and answer questions. * Review general ledger identifying fluctuations and causes. * Prepare and enter journal entries; reconcile and balance sheet accounts. * Assist in preparation of financial statements including balance sheet, trial balance, and income statement. * Prepare insurance and manpower reports, and sales and use tax returns. * The Assistant Complex Finance Manager should be competent in all the complex finance activities should the Complex Finance Manager be out of the office. * Conduct all duties in accordance with internally and externally acceptable practices. * Perform all other duties as assigned by management. **Supervisory Responsibilities:** * This is a Leader of People position with required competencies: Sizing up People, Delegation, Planning, Customer Focus and Conflict Management. * 5+ professional accounting and clerical support employees.
Ideal Candidate
**Minimum Education And Experience:** * Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field from an accredited institution. * 4+ years’ relevant experience in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate would be ready for advancement in 1-2 years. * Expert level of proficiency with excel spreadsheets and ERP/MRP systems. **Preferred Education And Experience:** * 6+ years’ experience within a similar manufacturing environment. * 3+ years supervisory and/or leadership experience. * MBA/CPA or CMA * Previous experience working with Agristats data * Previous experience in product cost models. * Previous experience utilizing Adage and/or M-Tech software. **Required Technical Skills:** * Advanced math skills. * Proficient knowledge and use of Microsoft office, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. * Demonstrated leadership capabilities. * Excellent spelling, proofreading and grammatical skills. * High work capacity, dependable, results oriented and strong sense of urgency. * Appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to inspire and guide individuals toward goal achievement, modifies behavior to accommodate tasks, situations, and individuals. * Effectively manages conflict. * Honest, ethical and able to maintain confidential and sensitive information. * Demonstrated and highly effective written/verbal and interpersonal communication skills sufficient to communicate and interact effectively with internal and external customers. * Ability to transition quickly between existing and new responsibilities with minimal direction. * Ability to work in fast paced environment with multiple priorities. * Excellent organizational skills, with precise attention to detail. * Demonstrated sound work ethic, honesty and moral character. **Required Problem Solving Skills:** * Understand and interpret data while drawing logical conclusions based on available inputs. * Critical thinking skills in standardized situations as well as non-routine problems. * Manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and prioritize work accordingly. * Resolve routine problems as they arise while performing job functions.
