Summary
The product manager will be part of the Usage Based Insurance team supporting the DriveAbility product and other telematics-related software and services. This individual is the product owner. He or she drives the product vision and makes decisions on the product requirements and take products through a full life cycle from idea to market deployment. The product manager is well-versed in the business landscape, the competition, the enabling technology, the users and their requirements. He or she has responsibility for the product concept, development and support. This will includes overall responsibility for the product roadmap, customer experience, business processes, business rules, product owner in an agile development environment and ongoing product operations. Finally, this role works closely with almost every surrounding role, such as business analyst, quality assurance, marketing, deployment/launch, sales, and communications. After product launch, this role is responsible for gathering and analysis of customer feedback and for ensuring the quality of customer support / centralized operations. The software team, utilizing Agile/Scrum method, is located in Reigate, UK, while the product manager, client delivery team, and sales are a global, remote team.
Responsibilities
* Develop product Business Case * Articulate business and customer requirements * Articulate business rules and develop business processes * Champion the new product within various organizations * Assist Project Manager and Project Sponsor to define vision of success and project goals * Prepare and own Product Description and Roadmap * Work closely with contracted external 3rd parties * Participate in the product development as the product owner in an agile development methodology * Participate in test planning and user acceptance test * Participates as appropriate in developing corrective action plans to address variances in time, cost or quality * Identify, communicate, and resolve issues associated with product performance and quality * May participate in /own ongoing support infrastructure, staffing, tools, procedures, job aids, policies
Ideal Candidate
* At least 3 years of experience with software products. * Has taken at least 3 products from inception through full launch and post-launch maturation phases (cash cow, etc.) * Bachelor’s degree * Willingness to work irregular hours due to the fact we are a global team (London, China, Japan, USA, etc.) * Willingness to travel. Not too frequently, but likely quarterly. Travel could include Europe as well as parts of US. * Excellent written and oral communication skills both for technical and non-technical topics. * Practical and theoretical knowledge and experience in proven, traditional product management processes as well as experience with more recent innovation methods (e.g., Agile development and Lean Startup Method). * Excellent stakeholder engagement skills. * Excellent time management skills * Desired: Experience with Agile software methods * Desired: Experience with requirements tools (Team Foundation, other) * Desired: Experience with B2C products and user experience
