Summary
This is a developmental role; within 2 years incumbent will be expected to have the skills and knowledge that is required to be promoted to a Human Resources Manager. The flexibility to relocate from this location in the future is required. Primarily responsible for creating and working to maintain a positive work climate within a unionized manufacturing work force. Accountable for continuous process improvement and employee satisfaction in the following: policy interpretation, performance management, supervisory training, employee satisfaction, grievances, turnover, absenteeism, employee morale.
Responsibilities
* Serve as strategic business partner providing thoughts and insights on how to drive the business from a people-perspective; lead functional/business initiatives around engagement, diversity, talent management, training, and change management. * Work to build organizational effectiveness and capability through work class change leadership practices and employee relations strategies, which enable the Company to attain its business objectives and build employee commitment. * Provide coaching and guidance to include conflict and grievance resolution due to personal and/or collective bargaining agreement and disputes in a union environment. * Lead corporate HR initiatives, serve as an employee champion to ensure processes and relationships are fair and equitable and deliver communication and support systems to ensure all employees are fully engaged in the business and are fully committed to its success. * Ensure full compliance of HR initiatives (i.e. staffing, regulatory processes, compliance, employee relations, and organization development) to drive growth initiatives. * Administer company and HR policies and processes to make sure they are all executed with excellence. * Drive recruitment, selection, and succession planning strategies for internal customers. * Responsible for supervising the HR administrative employees. * Expected to learn all parts of the complex's production and financial processes. * All other duties and special projects as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
**Supervisory Responsibilities:** * Lead 2-5 direct and indirect salaried and hourly reports. * This is a Leader of People position, with required competencies: Planning, Conflict Management, Delegation, Customer Focus and Sizing Up People. **Minimum Education and Experience:** * Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or closely related field from an accredited institution. * 2+ years relevant HR experience with 1+ years HR supervisory or management experience. * 1+ years relevant experience within a manufacturing environment. **Preferred Education and Experience:** * Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources or related field from an accredited institution. * Bilingual – English/Spanish proficiency. * PHR/SPHR certification **Required Technical Skills:** * Knowledge of and experience with Employment Law. * Knowledge of MS Office, particularly Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word. * Excellent organizational skills, with precise attention to detail. * Capable of working at both the strategic level and “hands on” level. * Highly effective written/verbal and interpersonal communication skills sufficient to communicate and interact effectively with internal and external customers. * Direct and empathetic and persuasive communication style. * Ability to work in fast paced environment with multiple priorities. * Excellent organizational skills, with precise attention to detail. * Appropriately operate with frequent access to confidential information. * Maintain and adhere to strict confidentiality standards. * Demonstrated sound work ethic, high degree of personal integrity, honesty and moral character. **Required Problem Solving Skills:** * Understand and interpret data while drawing logical conclusions based on available inputs. * Critical thinking skills in standardized situations as well as non-routine problems. * Manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and prioritizes work accordingly. **Safety Requirements:** * Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs. **Physical Requirements:** * Ability to travel to other complex locations and occasional (approximately 3 times per year) overnight travel to Corporate meetings. * Frequently sits for long periods of time utilizing office equipment and/or computers. * Occasionally lifts up to 20 pounds.
