Responsibilities
* The Technical Training Specialist will organize, plan, schedule, and conduct the necessary technical training for gas employees. * This training encompasses both utility mandated as well as advanced technical training. * Provides Operator Qualification (OQ) training and testing for both the customer service and distribution departments. * Ensures all employees receive the requisite amount of training and testing to perform their job duties. * Provides regulatory and job skills training as necessary. Training may include first aid, driver and safety topics. * Maintains all training and testing records for gas operations as required. * Designs and develops training courses, lesson plans and materials. * Works with subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop training programs appropriate to the skills and knowledge required in the business area. * Conducts needs analysis to identify gaps in skills and performance, and utilizes a variety of training methods to meet business needs and goals. * Assists supervisor and operations supervision to plan annual training. * Maintains close contact with operations and safety to coordinate training for each area.
Ideal Candidate
* This position requires an Associate’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Business Management, Behavioral Sciences, Communication or Education and 8-10 years of experience in gas industry operations and construction and/or experience with gas utilization equipment. * High School Diploma and 13 years of experience will be considered. * Gas industry construction and maintenance experience and Operator Qualification (OQ) Certification is required. * Previous main and service installation/maintenance experience preferred. * Experience in a training capacity or certification as a Gas OQ Proctor is a plus. * Must have strong communication skills and the ability to assess, evaluate, design and conduct effective training programs. * Strong knowledge of gas distribution and emergency response is required. * Knowledge of gas distribution systems and capable of interpreting maps and records and training employees on same is required.
