Summary
The Universal Studios Hollywood facilities team oversees all facilities management for food and retail locations within the theme park and CityWalk. The Manager will be responsible for managing new, renovation and remodeling projects for all retail locations and distribution center. The Manager also monitors, updates, and communicates project progression to ensure projects function smoothly and meet completion target dates. This position is responsible for providing leadership, direction and resources to effectively manage maintenance, daily departmental operations and special projects in support of the Retail Department.
Responsibilities
**Facilities Operations:** * Leads the delivery of daily operational support of 18+ retail locations including carnival games and retail carts business and special events * Manage and standardize the operations and activities of in-house (Union based technicians) and outside services to ensure the ongoing operations of the retail venues. * Plans, develops, and prioritizes project work schedules and weekly work plans to expedite workflow * Inspect retail facilities on a daily basis, to ensure on-going operations, safety, and compliance * Plan and mobilize resources, in a fast-paced environment, while adhering to strict EHS and government agency compliance * Responsible for overseeing the maintenance of physical plant assets, equipment, and testing of emergency systems **Financial Management:** * Participates in the forecast development, implementation, distribution, and management of annual expenditure, capitalization budgets and facilities plans * Works closely on weekly basis with finance dept. to manage the budgets and possible foreseen overages or costs unknown **Contract Management:** * Source new vendors and assists with the pre-qualifications and evaluation of potential construction and maintenance vendors. * Work with the general contractors/vendors for site construction sequence, verifying logistics with general contractors, outside resources and USH operating teams with regards to access, timing, insurance, and vendor qualifications. * Review shop drawing and documents for completeness, corrections, and coordination and compile a list of comments.
Ideal Candidate
**Qualifications/Requirements** * Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, facilities management, business administration or related field. * 5 – 7 years demonstrated experience in facilities management or related retail service construction, or facilities industry experience **Desired Characteristics** * Previous experience in working turnkey projects, specifically in the food or retail industry. * Experience in bidding and negotiations. * Strong P+L experience, command of budgeting and costs controls. * Ability to communicate effectively with outside resources and employees and all levels of management. * Strong organizational, planning, delegation, mentoring and coaching skills. * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project. * Experience with Government agency permit/plan check approval processes, in relation to Building & Safety, Fire, and Health Department. * Strong Understanding of Local Health Department requirements. * Ability to understand and interpret shop drawings, equipment specifications, construction plans, Drafting/AutoCAD+ * Must be able to work in a construction environment. * Understanding of stainless steel and millwork fabrication and shop drawings. * General knowledge of Facility Life/Safety systems and equipment * General knowledge of equipment, systems, quality control and trouble-shooting within the area of responsibility (Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Construction, Maintenance). * Experience in Union environment preferred.
