Summary
The Director, Product Marketing, Clinical/Toxicology has responsibility for the Clinical research, IVD, Forensic Toxicology & Sports Doping business within the Life Science Mass Spectrometry (LSMS) organization. The Director is an integral part of the global marketing team and is a key interface with corporate, internal business partners, divisional marketing, regional marketing teams and the global commercial organization. The role supports annual business and marketing planning (AOP) and in support of Clinical research, IVD, Forensic Toxicology & Sports Doping market opportunities. The role requires a strategic understanding of the Thermo Scientific brand, the life sciences industry, analytical instrumentation, consumables, and software. The ideal candidate will have prior experience managing clinical/IVD/toxicology marketing and/or business teams with experience in product management and development, marketing planning, program execution and metrics. Proven team building and employee development skills are essential. The Director will have a strong strategic business perspective, global outlook and excellent collaboration and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage Life Sciences Mass Spectrometry clinical research, IVD, forensic toxicology and sports-anti doping marketing efforts. - Deeply understand the requirements of each segment and communicate customer and market needs throughout the organization including the R&D teams - Support product management with customer and market requirements to drive definition and development of clinical market-specific products and workflows. - Support worldwide registration of mass spec medical devices outside of the U.S. in conjunction with the global strategic marketing and regulatory teams. - Coordination with worldwide sales, service, field marketing and local office teams to support marketing campaigns, events, and regulatory compliance. - Role will be responsible for developing content and executing marketing campaigns with divisional marketing throughout the world. - Manage a dedicated applications team - Partner with Clinical BD to develop vertical strategy & support AOP plan development - Partner with Clinical BD to develop and coordinate strategy within the team and across business units and regions - Working with Clinical BD, analyze and report out market, competitive, application trends as well as new workflow opportunities across the CMD (Chromatography & Mass Spectrometry Division) portfolio - Partner with Divisional Marketing to plan vertical campaigns to be deployed globally and regionally; gauge and improve marketing performance and ROI as well as overall revenues in the clinical/toxicology market - Create customer-centric content for the web, social and other digital channels; collaborate with digital marketing to drive web metrics - Conduct commercial sales training (key selling points, competitive counters) on a regular cadence to improve selling skills and proper positioning of CMD solutions - Establish and maintain metrics to track and improve team member and overall team performance - Maintain an active presence in the Clinical/toxicology/sports doping scientific community. Actively participate in conferences, meetings, organizations, etc.
Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology or Chemistry; MS, Ph.D. or MBA highly desirable. - 10 years work experience in marketing, product management or sales with solid clinical/toxicology market or business experience - Knowledge of mass spectrometry is strongly preferred - Significant clinical/toxicology market knowledge and experience is required - Passion and skill in developing brand equity and VOC to track change over time - Demonstrated results in driving marketing campaigns targeting specific market segments and experience with tactics including web, social, search, advertising and events - Notable achievements in improving marketing ROI and directly impacting revenue - Significant experience in building and leading high-performing organizations - Excellent strategic thinker with superior written and verbal communication skills - Ability to plan, execute and measure with a strong sense of urgency to drive results - Collaborative approach to developing and sharing strategy, tactics and analytics - Highly self-motivated leader with ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects - Must be able to manage in a highly matrixed environment - Ability to travel at least 25%, both within the U.S. and internationally
