About TED
TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages. Meanwhile, independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world.
Summary
TED is seeking a Community Manager to join our TEDx team. The ideal candidate will be a global citizen with strong writing skills and community management experience, ability to handle, adapt, and overcome change, and a passion for communicating ideas and connecting a diverse, global community. This person will be directly involved in the coordination of internal communications and marketing to the TEDx community through our digital platforms, including the management of overall strategy, and of the TEDx Community team. The candidate will also work to moderate community groups, as well as maintain the clarity, vision and purpose of the TEDx voice and brand.
Responsibilities
* Overseeing TEDx Community needs and programs * Managing TEDx Community team * Managing maintenance of community platforms * Managing/writing internal communications directed at our global audience * Management of community knowledge transfer and connections * Managing implementation of on-going community hangouts * Managing comprehensive editorial strategy to maintain the TEDx brand and voice on internal platforms * Overseeing creation of weekly internal digest and any additional editorial outlets * Processing applications for TEDx initiative license types (TEDxWomen, TEDxLive, etc.) * Managing registration process for staff-led workshops and TEDx attendees of conferences * Managing various community activations * Special projects as needed
Ideal Candidate
* Prior writing experience required * Digital community management experience required * Ability to effectively manage a team (prior staff management experience required) * Social media management experience required * Self-starter * Attention to detail * Ability to work as part of a team * Ability to maintain project timelines for a team * Proven experience delivering on tight project deadlines * A good eye to choose photos and layout for internal platforms * Experience writing for the web * Minimum 5 years of postgraduate work experience in relevant field * Prior knowledge of Salesforce a plus
