Database Engineer

SwipeSense is a portable, trackable hand sanitation dispenser for physicians and nurses, that lowers infection rates in hospitals.

We are looking for an experienced database administrator, developer, and architect who has built out data infrastructures optimized for delivering key insights on extremely large and ever-growing SQL datasets.

Primary Role:

Lead the design and implementation of new data marts and data warehouses to allow our internal BI tools and consumer-facing analytics tools to scale with our customer base.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design new data marts and data warehouses to support key BI reports and client-facing metrics.
• Perform query optimization and index optimization to improve transactional performance of our write-heavy hand hygiene database.
• Guide the development and deployment of Amazon AWS-based infrastructure to scale out to hundreds of millions of rows.
• Design and implement data marts and data warehouses to effectively deliver queries surrounding our key hand hygiene metrics.
• Continually audit incoming data to ensure integrity.

Key Skills:

• Expert in SQL
• Expert in database parameter optimization and administration (specifically MySQL)
• Experience with business intelligence tool – grids, metrics, filters, advanced report development
• Database design and normalization
• Index and Query optimization/profiling
• Dashboard Design and Data Visualization
• Experience designing data mart and data warehouse solutions for tracking key metrics
• Experience building high availability, scalable BI solutions using Amazon AWS for hosting
• Knowledge of data backup and redundancy solutions

Qualifications:

• Bachelors or equivalent degree with a focus on CS/Databases
• Previous experience optimizing BI for multi-gigabyte databases
