Summary
The SQL Database Administrator II (Operational DBA) maintains and manages the SQL Database environment. The position will provide operational support and design recommendations for the organizations SQL Data base environments.
Responsibilities
* Performs database performance analysis, tuning and maintenance to ensure continued data integrity and optimal performance. * Develops and implements policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the SQL databases. * Implements SQL upgrades, patches. * Performs SQL Analysis. Writes and executes SQL scripts. Performs Data base migrations. * Supports and develops staff in their triage of production issues. * Defines Database performance service levels and ensure that critical database systems are optimally available as defined in the SLAs. * Coordinates with technical team during technical architecture design, development and delivery of product changes and enhancements. * Maintains confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network. * Responds to database support calls received during and after hours. * Participates in the continuous process improvement projects of the Focus Tech Product Delivery department in support of assigned goals and objectives. * Strong ability to effectively communicate with peers and management and create and maintain a professional learning environment. * Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be dependable, reliable and punctual. * Will perform hardware configuration design reviews for the SQL DB environment performance tuning, and scalability. * Work collaboratively with multiple teams of developers, analysts, project managers to develop and support enterprise-level software products. * Research new tools, technologies, and techniques and provide recommendations and best practices. * Act as the gatekeeper for all database and script changes for production promotion following the Change Management process. * Supports backup and recovery strategies. Monitor and proactively support capacity planning and analysis.
Ideal Candidate
**Candidate Skills:** * 7-10 years proven experience as SQL DBA. * In depth understanding of SQL database design and best practices. * Working knowledge of SSIS and SSRS. * Strong proficiency with SQL performance analysis and monitoring tools. * Extensive experience of relational databases, backup and restore operations, DB logins/permissions, stored procedures, schema, triggers, and database maintenance. * Ability to work with and understand other database platforms (e.g. SQL, Sybase). * Experience with upgrades and data migration. * Demonstrate a strong understanding of the database development life cycle including data modeling, database coding, testing, and implementation. * Experience with data integration software and development of enterprise data, information architecture, and models. * Experience with hardware configuration design as it pertains to DB performance and scalability. **Candidate Qualifications:** * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Business Administration or related disciplines or equivalent certifications and work experience. * 8 to 10 years of overall technology experience. * 6+ years of hands on advanced SQL Database support and experience. **Nice to have** * Insurance domain business knowledge is a plus. * Experience with Agile and Kanban methodology is a plus. * Knowledge of BI practices and tools and experience with ETL
