Summary
Frontier Communications is seeking a Senior Data Warehouse Architect who will be responsible for aligning DW technology solutions with business requirements. The Enterprise Data Warehouse Architect will be responsible for the creation and execution of the data strategy and architecture such that it meets the needs for various business functions across its transactional, operational & analytical data warehouse application. The ideal candidate should have deep expertise with data management technologies and a desire to drive change through data alignment across the enterprise. The role requires the candidate to be a hands on data architect.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for the administration, architecture, design, analysis and modeling of the data warehouse system. * Steward of Enterprise Metadata Architecture & Standards, Enterprise Data Lifecycle Management including data quality, data conversion, and data security technologies * Oversee data warehouse and BI systems performance and integrity and provide corrective actions and preventative maintenance. * Collaborate with the DBA and System Administrator to ensure the data warehouse and BI systems adhere to Frontier IT security best practices, protocols and standards. * Proactively perform data analysis by comparing multiple external source systems datasets and identify data inaccuracies and anomalies. Investigate root cause and work together with DBA to develop remediation steps. * Develop, design and maintain Star Schemes and Cubes to meet organizational reporting needs. * Partner with the Project Manager and DBA to coordinate Application and Reporting releases. * Produce high quality system functionality with vague or general guidelines from clients. Foresee issues, provide "mock-ups" of the deliverables for client sign-off, and use probing questions to gather necessary details for design. Analyze business requirements in various business functional areas and translate them into conceptual, logical and physical data models. Design datamarts using knowledge of data warehouse principles, architectures and technologies. * Participate in all phases of the SDLC including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance. * Facilitate technical discussion and serve as one of the technical authorities/experts in the team to anticipate risks and problems and remove roadblocks. * Contribute to the technical user support by assessing customer requests/issues and provide timely resolutions. * Responsible for creating and maintaining all database related documentation. * Work with minimal supervision on assigned projects. Manage time and tasks independently. * Work as an individual contributor as well as in a collaborative work environment.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, similar degree, or equivalent work experience. Demonstrated experience in business intelligence and data warehousing principles, approaches, technologies and architectures. * Solid Enterprise data warehouse architecture, design and deployment experience using industry best practices and a broad knowledge of Database systems, Master Data Management and Big Data * Strong Oracle database background, with SQL, PL/SQL and SQL tuning. Experience as an Oracle DBA strongly preferred. * 8+ years’ experience in large and complex enterprise warehouse and business intelligence reporting systems. * Extensive experience in database performance tuning and query optimization. * Strong and broad knowledge of database design tools (ERWIN etc.), data base systems (Teradata, Oracle, SQL experience), Data Integration tools (Informatica, ODI, etc), Metadata management tools. * Broad knowledge of Big Data technologies. * Ability to complete tasks under minimal to moderate supervision, multi-task in an extremely dynamic and agile environment. * Strong Communication skills (oral/written); Ability to present technical details to senior management. * Demonstrated ability to identify real-world problems and develop technical solutions to solve them. * Overtime expected for both development and support activities * Willingness to learn the tools not presently understood * Must have Telecommunications Experience
