Summary
Reliability Engineers at Lithium are responsible for the overall stability, health and growth of the infrastructure and product scalability. They automate repeatable tasks and create tools for engineering teams to manage our products. As part of the reliability engineering team you will work alongside seasoned engineers that are passionate about building resilient, scalable distributed systems.The role includes the development and design of database strategies, monitoring and improving database performance and capacity, and planning for future expansion requirements.
Responsibilities
* Improve the reliability and efficiency of Lithium products * Work cross-functionally with various product engineering teams * Maintain database availability, performance and optimal query response time * Manage and scale database storage infrastructure * Develop tools to automate and manage database tasks * Evolve, manage and test backup and recovery procedures * Maintain and improve monitoring, alerting and trending of database systems * Write new and maintain existing database documentation * On-Call rotation
Ideal Candidate
* 8+ years of experience with MySQL/RDBMS administration in a high traffic production environment * Expert level understanding of scaling, replication and HA configurations * Strong proficiency in performance tuning and query optimization * Experience with backup/recovery and monitoring systems * Expert level knowledge in Python, Java or Ruby * Configuration management (Chef, Puppet) * Professional and business focused attitude * Ability to articulate technical issues in a concise manner * Team player, with strong mentoring skills * Agile methodologies and project management experience **Preferred Qualifications:** * Experience with NoSQL technologies including ElasticSearch, Redis, Hadoop and Cassandra * SAN storage experience – iSCSI, Multipathing, PureStorage & SolidFire * Percona Tools, MySQL High Availability (MHA), DataDog integration * Cloud Services * Contributions to Open Source projects * BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science
