Summary
The Payroll and Benefits Specialist will be responsible for assisting in all payroll and benefits related functions for a leading entrepreneurial and growth-oriented insurance brokerage and risk management firm. We are located in over 20 states with a current exempt/non-exempt employee population of 560 targeted for continued growth in the next five years.
Responsibilities
* Process biweekly payroll. Perform audit of processed payroll to ensure accuracy and make any necessary adjustments. * Process adjustments each pay period including calculation of overtime rates and retroactive pays. * Onboard new joiners as well as small groups from newly acquired companies. Assist with payroll transitions for acquisitions. * Manage time and attendance module as well as non-exempt employee timecards. * Process commission payments on a monthly basis. * Run special annual payrolls for performance bonuses & commission reconciliations. * Process and transmit changes, deductions, deferrals to/from benefits providers. * Handle all FMLA/other leave administration, State disability program, worker’s compensation. * Manage daily benefit plan operations including employee enrollments, life event changes, COBRA, reimbursements, terminations for all Health & Welfare programs and other voluntary benefits (including 401k, Life, STD/LTD, commuter, transit, HSA, FSA, identity theft). * Serve as the main point of contact for employee payroll and benefits inquiries; Interact with third party administrators. * Heavy liaison with Finance colleagues. Ensure accurate and timely actuals/tax/liability reporting. * Run regular summary and detail reports from ADP for management reporting and analysis. * Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local tax regulations. * Partner on annual Open Enrollment and other strategic projects. * Develop, recommend, and implement process improvements.
Ideal Candidate
* 4 years of ADP Workforce Now knowledge required, including experience with ADP benefits and reporting. * Strong working knowledge of Excel * Excellent numerical, detail orientation and organizational skills * Experience in insurance/financial services industry with commission pay is preferred * Experience working both within a team environment and independently * Comfort working in a systems-driven and paperless environment * PHR or CEBS professional designations a plus * Strong written and verbal communication skills
