Summary
The SVP of Human Resources (HR), reporting to the CEO, is responsible for providing overall strategic HR leadership, and internal communications, for the enterprise. This position will oversee strategy and delivery in all areas of human resources, including talent life-cycle management; organizational design, learning and development; workforce planning; employee benefits and wellness; internal communications; compensation, rewards, and recognition; HR systems and payroll; legal compliance; and mergers & acquisitions integration management and planning. Additionally, as a member of the PQ Senior Leadership Team (SLT) the SVP, HR has a shared responsibility to shape, communicate and implement the company’s Enterprise Strategy across ProQuest, including championing efforts that support the company’s vision, mission and values.
Responsibilities
* Develop a comprehensive talent strategy that is closely aligned and strongly integrated with the business strategy, ensuring that the company is making the right talent decisions to meet its strategic priorities. * Build effective relationships in the business to improve the communication and identification of key issues and priorities. * Ensure company compliance with all laws/regulations related to all aspects of human resource management globally. Remain current with changes in human resource and employment law in all countries of operation, and manage company relationships with state and local regulatory agencies. * Ensure ProQuest offers competitive employee benefit programs. This includes working with our parent company (CIG) to manage ProQuests’ participation in current programs (medical, dental, life insurance, disability, supplemental medical, 401(k), time away, FMLA, and unemployment compensation) as well as emerging offerings and options. * Serve as an internal consultant to the business leaders as required in employment matters.
Ideal Candidate
**Qualifications:** * Strong education foundation to include an undergraduate degree in a related field and preferably a Masters’ degree or advanced degree (i.e., HR, Marketing, Business). * Minimum 15 years’ of human resources experience in a complex, global environment. * A demonstrated background in developing and administering a competitive compensation strategy. Previous experience with privately-held company compensation practices such as short and long-term incentives is desirable, as well as high-growth organization(s). * Ability to act in the capacity of advisor to the business in making decisions regarding options for staff augmentation and outsourced relationships. * Strong execution and delivery skills. The successful candidate must have a demonstrated ability to manage global incentives and develop concise policies and governance. A track record of effectively managing resources and prioritizing diverse and, at times, conflicting priorities will be expected. * Experience initiating and leading change with a high degree of transformation in a highly matrixed organization. ?A history of leading teams through transformational challenges is critical. * Experience leading a global HR team supporting multiple lines of businesses; where exposure to scale, complexity and the benefit of HR best practices has been at the core. * Strong M&A due diligence assessment and/or integration experience within complex organizations; software sector experience ideal. Given the acquisitive nature of the company, the successful candidate will have previous experience with M&A and integration, ideally on a global level. * Track record of success working and influencing a fast-paced, matrixed organization at all levels, being highly influential, collaborative and effective. ? * Demonstrated experience collaborating with C-suite level leaders; weighing concepts and prioritizing plans to support competing priorities. ? * A change agent with highly evolved influencing skills. * Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and passion for managing projects to conclusion on time. * Excellent organization, communication and presentation skill. **Competencies:** * Business Acumen * Strategic Selling * Communication * Customer/Client Focus * Leadership * Problem Solving/Analysis * Results Driven * Strategic Thinking * Technical Capacity **Ancillary Qualifications:** * Experience and domain knowledge with information and software businesses * Fluency in languages other than English **Personal Characteristics:** * A results-oriented and passionate leader to drive business results through managing human capital while maintaining the highest ethical standards. * A track record of execution and delivery combined with instilling a sense of accountability is important. The successful candidate must be a proven change agent capable of inspiring his/her team and building effective relationships across the business to drive results. * A consummate team player and a decisive and engaging leader who effectively works across the senior leadership team and the rest of the organization. The successful candidate must be tough, yet fair and tenacious in driving change across the enterprise and demonstrate the ability to challenge others and set aggressive goals. * Excellent interpersonal and communications skills. The successful candidate must be able to communicate a clear set of objectives, delegate effectively and drive accountability. This leader will work at all levels of the company as well as with key external customers and partners. **Other important information about this position:** * This position is be based in Ann Arbor. * Frequent travel is required both nationally and internationally – up to 50% * This position requires weekday (Monday - Friday) attendance with some scheduling flexibility available around core working hours. * Number of direct reports: 5 +/- Number of team members in HR: 30+ * Every position requires certain physical capabilities.
