Summary
Coordinate the maintenance and repair of a wide variety of production or processing machines and equipment with minimal downtime. Involves checking, setting up, and operating various types of production tools and equipment prior to approving for production use.
Responsibilities
* Must be willing and able to train other employees * Must demonstrate the ability to accomplish tasks in the most efficient and economical manner * Quality of work must be exceptional and must demonstrate this to all other employees * Must have the initiative to take tasks and projects on and ensure project is seen through to completion * Is responsible for the implementation of PM’s on machinery, and assigning PM’s. * Monitors and practices all safety rules * Leads rather than follows in all aspects of the job * Must have/ learn thorough knowledge of all equipment * Demonstrates the ability to improve others in housekeeping duties * Must be able to communicate effectively with fellow employees * Must be able to communicate with plant mgr and supervisors * Is responsible for passing along information between shifts * Must communicate with Prod Supervisors to be able to complete open work req. on equip. * Should help schedule work needing to be completed on weekends and aid in assigning the tasks to other employees. * Is responsible for instituting PM’s, and managing PM’s of all machines. * Is responsible for ensuring that we are utilizing our time wisely, so we do not have excessive slack time and are not doubling up on tasks unless it is for training purposes. * Should follow up on completed work to ensure that the work is completed satisfactorily. * Facilities maintenance * Must be willing to travel, periodically, or when needed. **Expectations:** * Attendance: We must be here on time and ready to work when scheduled to be at work. In addition be flexible and adaptable when issues arise that will require short notice of additional hours to complete a job. * Some weekend wor to other fack and some travel if necessary: We serve our customers 7 days a week 365 days a year. * Cleanliness: the condition in which machines are left after work has been completed, the expectation is for the equip and the surrounding area to be cleaner when we leave then it was when we started * Shop cleanup the Maintenance Shop / work area MUST be cleaned before our shifts concludes for the shift.
Ideal Candidate
**Educationc and/or Experience** * High school diploma or GED. * Computer/Data entry skills. * Some maintenance experience in a manufacturing plant. * Candidates are PREFERRED who offer the following: * College and/or related technical courses. * Two to Four years experience in the packaging industry with heavy experience in electronics, mechanical, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electricity. **Language skills** * Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. **Mathematical skills:** * Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate. Able to apply concepts of high school math. **Reasoning ability** * Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations **Technical skills** * The individual must have a working knowledge of the following: * Equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation. This also supports the supervisor's role of teacher and trainer for his/her personnel. * Cost issues in order to make daily decisions that will reduce overall costs and will help the supervisor find areas that require improvement. * Quality standards. * Regulatory requirements including but not limited to wage and hour requirements, environmental and waste minimization, company policies, and personnel requirements including OSHA and EEO. **Certificates, Licenses, Registration** * May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License and/or other appropriate certification to work in certain areas or on certain equipment. **Physical demands** * While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 to 65 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. **Work environment** * While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration.
