Senior Lab Technician

Amec Foster Wheeler designs, delivers and maintains strategic and complex infrastructure assets across a range of markets and is structured around four business units. The engineering and project delivery operations will be managed through three geographic business units: Americas; Northern Europe & Commonwealth of Independent States; Africa, Middle East, Asia & Southern Europe. The Global Power Group, the power equipment business, will operate across all geographies.

General Laboratory Tasks - Desired candidate will have experience conducting laboratory tests. Specific experience should be related to toxicology tests and will include performing bioassay laboratory testing, water chemistry analysis, and biota sample sorting and taxonomy. Candidate should be able to perform laboratory tests and procedures with minimal supervision - Experience with algal, ichthyoplankton, and macroinvertebrate identification a plus. - Lead and mentor other technicians - Problem solving - Maintenance duties on equipment include calibration of water quality measuring devices / meters - Coordinate organism and supply ordering Bioassay Tasks - Follow US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) methods for conducting acute and chronic bioassay tests for freshwater and saltwater species - Follow USEPA/US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) methods for sediment and elutriate toxicity tests and bioaccumulation studies - Culture test organisms Office Tasks - Set-up and breakdown of laboratory tests - Data entry - Supply inventory

- Laboratory experience AND at least a High School diploma or Bachelor’s degree in science in related field such as chemistry, ecology, biology and environmental science - Computer skills and excellent record keeping skills required - Must have laboratory experience following technical methods, standard operating procedures, and equipment operation - Must be detail oriented and organized - Must be able to lead, mentor and manage other technicians Equipment Operation - Water quality sondes, drying / combustion ovens, DI water filtration system and incubators
