Summary
This position is responsible for representing PetSmart on all its customer-facing social media channels and reports directly to the Sr Mgr, Social Media, as part of the Digital team. This position works in close partnership with other Marketing centers of excellence (Paid Media, Enterprise Marketing, PR, Creative, CRM and .com) as well as key partners across each business unit (Consumables, Hardgoods, Specialty Pet, and Services). The Social Media Manager should not only be passionate about the social space but understand its role in the broader marketing context. He/ She owns content planning and community management for all of PetSmart’s owned social media channels, and will maintain the day-to-day presence on these channels. This role will play an integral role with the Sr. Mgr., Social Media to develop a content and channel strategy and build a plan to execute against the strategy; this includes integration of our customer service department for relevant social issue management. This role will also assist in managing PetSmart’s social media agency and department budget. The right candidate will display social media expertise with excellent writing skills, project management, critical thinking and analytical skills that help elevate PetSmart’s presence in the social space.
Responsibilities
* Plan and develop content for PetSmart’s owned social media channels, including Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, etc. * Work with agency to conduct efficient social listening and stay abreast of all brand and related conversations in the online space. * Maintain a day-to-day presence and manage PetSmart’s social communities with assistance from the agency as defined. * Represent PetSmart’s brand voice on its owned social channels and maintain response guidelines on its social channels. * Stay up to date with latest trends in social and digital marketing and lend expertise to partners across centers of excellence as well as business units in order to drive optimal outcomes for the business. * Stay close to competitive activity and thoughtfully apply learnings to the ongoing social media plan. * Work with the agency to develop a blogger/influencer program in alignment with the Consumer PR team and expand PetSmart’s earned and organic brand advocacy. * Plan contests/ sweeps from inception to final execution and reporting; work with legal team as needed. Work live events for real-time social posts. * Activate relevant partnerships with other brands and lead initiatives that expand and enhance PetSmart’s footprint in the social space. * Work closely with Consumer PR to align tactics and with Crisis Communications teams to plan appropriate responses in required situations. * Establish regular tracking and reporting on key metrics as defined. Provide recommendations to improve ongoing plan. * Develop paid social media tests and establish programs that drive established goals and business outcomes. * Support adherence to budget by executing cost effective paid social tactics. * Ability to professionally interface with senior leadership in a planned or adhoc manner. * Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and working with tight deadlines. * Must be available for community management on weekends/evenings as needed.
Ideal Candidate
Minimum Requirements: * Bachelor's degree from four year college or university in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or related field. * 5-7 years consumer-focused social media and/or digital marketing experience. * Excellent written & verbal communication skills (Must provide social writing samples) * Stellar time and project management skills, coupled with a strong ability to prioritize as needed * Proven quantitative and analytical lens * Critical thinking and sound judgment * Regular Social Media contributor (i.e. contribute regularly to Twitter, Facebook, a blog, message board, community, etc ) with a good knowledge of the space Preferred Requirements: * Two to three years experience within Retail or large corporate environment. * Proficient in web analytics tools like Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics and Webtrends. * Knowledge of social publishing tools (Hootsuite, Curalate, Sprout Social, etc). * Prior experience with social data reporting tools (SimplyMeasured, SocialBakers, etc). * Knowledge of social media listening tools (i.e., Radian6, CrimsonHexagon)
