Responsibilities
The Bay Area Executive Director will lead Peer Health Exchange in Bay Area and cultivate new and existing funding sources to support the growth of the program. The Executive Director will work with PHE’s national team to develop our Bay Area strategy to achieve greater impact. The Executive Director will set goals and develop a plan for the Bay Area, oversee the Bay Area program through exceptional management of the team, and serve as the spokesperson for PHE in the Bay Area to increase our visibility throughout the community. This position requires exceptional drive and passion for our work, significant capacity for management and fundraising, and the ability to direct the day-to-day operations of a growing, dynamic organization. The Bay Area Executive Director reports to the Vice President of Talent and Sites and has a dotted line relationship to the Vice President of External Affairs. This is a full-time, management position with a competitive salary and benefits package. Responsibilities - Position the PHE Bay Area site for long-term sustainability by: - Raising the annual Bay budget (~$750k in FY16) and build toward a Bay surplus - Sustaining and growing existing relationships with stakeholders including Board members, individual donors, and institutional investors, while designing and implementing a Bay Area development strategy to build a sustainable local funding base - Developing and supporting the Bay Area Board of Overseers to serve as community ambassadors for PHE - Serving as the external face of PHE in the Bay Area by building and managing relationships with strategic community partners, the philanthropic community, and the media. - Ensure high-quality outcomes for the PHE program in the Bay Area by: - Establishing program goals in the Bay Area and overseeing the program team to meet those goals - Overseeing the Bay Area Program Director and Bay Area program team to manage community partnerships - Working with the Bay Area program team, the National team, and external partners to evaluate the PHE program to identify and address challenges and improve outcomes. - Lead the PHE Bay Area team by: - Attracting, engaging, developing, hiring, and leading the Bay Area team - Building a cohesive and productive team culture in the Bay Area and across the country to achieve PHE’s mission - Serving as a liaison to the National team for the Bay Area site and as a member of the 360 Team - Providing fiscal oversight for the PHE Bay Area site, including developing and implementing budgets and managing and reporting assets, revenue, and expenditures - Providing organizational oversight for the PHE Bay Area site, including, office space and systems, and technology - Playing a role in the development of PHE’s national strategic plans and leading the development of program and external affairs strategies consistent with the integrated strategy of the site
Ideal Candidate
PHE is looking for someone who has the following qualifications: - Experience raising funds; preference for experience in individual fundraising - Leadership experience supervising, managing, and training others - Experience developing programs and building relationships with external partners - Board development experience preferred but not required - Has a bachelor’s degree The ideal candidate should: - Demonstrate strong passion for PHE’s mission to give teenagers the knowledge and skills needed to make healthy decisions; strong alignment with PHE’s core values of Health, Impact, Communication, Diversity, and Agency - Be a dynamic and open-minded individual who values input and collaboration from colleagues - Have excellent attention to detail, communication, and interpersonal details, as well as a high level of integrity. - Exercise excellent judgment in decision-making and explain own perspective to others - Be emotionally mature and self-reliant; thrive working in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced, and growing organization - Be able to ask questions, communicate challenges, and seek assistance proactively to ensure alignment of priorities and to identify solution options - Strive to constantly learn, grow, and reflect on their work
