Summary
The Business Analyst position will gather and document requirements from business areas impacted by the program, and partner with architecture and design teams to define technology solutions. Leads the Business Analysis phases of larger projects and/or multiple projects at the same time. Manager of a team of Business Analysis professionals. Establishes plans and objectives for the team, directs and develops staff, and ensures resources are in place and operating effectively to meet business goals.
Responsibilities
* Accountable for results of the team including quality of work, timeliness, and meeting budget goals. * Contributes to the initial project design phase of a project(s), providing insights based on a thorough understanding of the needs of the business and the future strategies and plans of business partners. * Responsible for developing business case and presenting to management. * Elicit, document, prepare and manage business requirements package for stakeholder sign-off and delivery to technical teams (who will translate into technical requirements and artifacts for solution design and delivery) * Responsible for the coordination and execution of business analysis and establishing, maintaining and implementing the tools, methods and procedures for the business analysis process. * Establish meaningful traceability between related requirements * Documented requirement artifacts should utilize industry standard diagram techniques to enhance the clarity of definition, including: process flows, context diagrams, use cases, wireframes, etc. * Set requirement baselines upon obtaining requirements package sign-off and support requirements change management, analyze impact and obtain change sign-off throughout Technology Delivery Life Cycle (TDLC) framework * Ensures accuracy of functional requirements/specifications for handoff to development team. * Interface with Business Partners, Technical resources (i.e. Solution Engineers, Systems Analysts, Test Leads), Architecture, and Quality Assurance to translate and simplify requirements, ensure requirements are met throughout entire TDLC framework, and verify that the implemented solution meets the requirements * Act as a liaison between the business and IT design & delivery teams * Identify and articulate the need for requirements change and assessing the impact of the change * Works within Operational Excellence COE business analysis standards and participates in continuous improvement efforts * Liaises among stakeholders to elicit, analyze, communicate, validate and document requirements for new and/or changes to business processes, policies and information systems * Understands business problems and opportunities in the context of the requirements and recommends solutions that enable the business * Facilitates relationships and translates business needs into technology solutions * Facilitates requirements gathering sessions to understand and document complex business needs, often eliciting hidden requirements and/or clarifying vague or unclear requirements * Translates business requirements into functional requirements * Applies thorough understanding of business processes and user needs to formulate and define system scope and objectives * Analyzes business operations and processes to understand strengths and weaknesses and support the identification of opportunities for automation; proactively identifies opportunities for process automation and may lead any resulting process redesign efforts * Creates workflow diagrams to document current and future business environment * Tracks progress of projects to ensure alignment to requirements; manages any deviations from requirements to ensure resolution * Interact with business, conduct analysis and document business processes, functions, capabilities, requirements, etc., enabled by IT * Performs a liaison between the business and IT Services * Translate and simplify requirements * Verify that the implemented solution meets the requirements * Identify and articulate the need for change and assessing the impact of the change * Analyze and interpret business and user requirements into functional requirements and specifications that have an appropriate level of detail suitable for use by the development implementation teams. * Solicit client requirements using walk-through, document analysis, storyboards, use case scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis * Write clear and concise requirements ensuring that requirement statements are complete, consistent, concise, comprehensible, feasible, unambiguous, and verifiable. * Support project managers to ensure key deliverables are met in an accurate timely manner assisting in the troubleshooting of problems and issues; make recommendations and provide alternative solutions when it applies. * Determine operational objectives by studying business functions; gathering information; evaluating output requirements and formats
Ideal Candidate
**Education / Training** * Bachelor degree with relevant experience required * Business Analysis CBAP or equivalent certification a plus **Previous Experience** * Typical candidates will possess 10+ years of relevant experience and BA/BS Degree or equivalent. * 3-5+ years of relevant experience within the insurance industry * Previous experience with a financial services organization a plus * Experience in working in a team-based agile or waterfall development environment
