Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the auto and equipment-backed ABS Surveillance team ensuring the timely review of group transactions under surveillance in compliance with Moody's and regulatory requirements. The candidate will assume managerial responsibilities of junior analysts in the team, providing them credit guidance, assisting them with research ideas and reports, commenting on rating recommendations, chairing rating committees and assisting in the development of rating methodologies.
Responsibilities
• Perform and manage surveillance of ABS ratings of auto loan, lease and floorplan transactions together with equipment-backed deals, track performance and credit trends, perform legal analysis and make rating change recommendations when necessary **Oversee and provide leadership to more junior analysts:** • Guide analysts in constructing comprehensive, well-reasoned analysis • Review analysts' work prior to deal reviews/ rating committees • Help analysts develop their presentations for committees **Publish research:** • Produce timely, relevant, and insightful deal and sector-specific research, sector outlooks, articles and special comments on recent news events and trends. **Interact with issuers, intermediaries and investors:** • Communicate with issuers and intermediaries throughout the rating process about our methodologies, our view of the credit risks and our analysis of specific transactions. • Participate in operational reviews and other client meetings to obtain information used in the credit analysis. • Maintain a solid understanding of relevant industry, competitive landscape and current trends affecting industry participants and represent Moody's to market participants on these topics. • Handle investor calls. • Speak at briefings and outside industry conferences. **Develop rating methodologies:** • Work with colleagues across several groups (and often geographies) to develop or refine our rating approach for specific asset classes. • Help develop models and other analytical tools used to rate transactions consistently with our rating approach. • Write methodology publications.
Ideal Candidate
* Master's Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Financial Engineering, Finance, Statistics or Mathematics * 10+ years of work experience, must be well-versed in reading and interpreting ABS deal documents * Experience with a variety of ABS asset classes and structures is highly preferred * Will consider experience in similar, non-ABS sectors (such as RMBS). * Further credentials/skills: * Proven strong analytical skills * Experience managing small teams * Leadership experience * Highly organized and efficient, able to multi-task * Strong verbal and written communication skills required * Professional, proactive, diligent * Strong team player with the ability to work independently
