Senior Data Scientist

Renovate America is the leader in Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing with 90% market share. PACE financing enables homeowners to borrow money to pay for certain home energy and water improvement products and repay it through their property tax bill.

Renovate America (RA) is looking for a highly motivated Sr. Data Scientist specializing in quantitative analysis with experience working in the financial industry. This role works together with the Risk Management team and focuses on origination risk for unsecured lending products. The Sr. Data Scientist gathers and analyzes data from various sources, develops reports and visual representations, and supports business decisions with analyses.

* Conduct analyses to assess origination performance and impacts to mitigate risk * Investigate and solve business issues and identify opportunities through the analysis of data (both internal and external data sets) * Translate business requirements into analytic solutions, models and data requirements * Interact with business users to understand and interpret requirements, especially consumer lending initiatives * Design ad-hoc analyses to address business needs * Develop underwriting criteria and strategies for unsecured products

* Graduate degree in an analytical discipline (e.g., Econometrics, Financial Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related discipline) * 3+ years’ experience in a financial services industry setting (w/credit bureau data experience a definite plus) * Full understanding of data sources and limitations, pulling data, and working with large data sets * Experience in statistical and financial model development * Experience with SQL, Data Analysis/Analytics * Experience w/SAS or similar analytics platform **Skills:** * Creative problem solving and a passion for data mining * Exceptional business acumen and ability to explain business significance using data and analysis * Excellent communication skills * Proficiency with MS Excel
