Summary
The TAA acts as a talent acquisition consultant and is accountable to partner with Global R&S sourcing strategic partners to manage the talent pipeline, while managing all phases of the executive recruiting process including need identification, sourcing, screening, selection, offer negotiation, and closing. He/she will provide leadership to cross-functional and cross-divisional leadership teams to implement and/or manage an array of staffing initiatives, policies or programs, ensuring stakeholder participation, support and pull-through.
Responsibilities
- Project and Relationship Management - Lead full cycle, direct hire, recruiting for executive level roles globally, ensuring a smooth and positive candidate and hiring manager experience. - Ensure the hiring process/hiring managers comply with Merck policies and with employment laws and regulations. - Manage relationships with internal collaborators and third party vendors as necessary. * Business Acumen & Business Strategy: - Develop a deep understanding of strategic business priorities and how the organization achieves business goals and profitability. - Provide advice and counsel to hiring managers on what skills or characteristics matter most when they evaluate candidates, establishing best selection process in terms of strategy, tools and participant experience. * In-Market Thinking: - Conduct competitive research, regional and market intelligence, and talent mapping through research, networking and screening; educate hiring managers on trends in the labor market. - Understand the competitive landscape and the availability of talent across critical talent segments. * Sourcing and Recruiting: - Build collaborative partnerships with the Global R&S Sourcing Partner to engage in the proactive sourcing and successful identification of top talent for future job openings within a business unit or units and/or specific functions; facilitate prioritization of talent needs. - Suggest and execute innovative, effective and efficient recruitment strategies needed to acquire top talent, including diverse and military job seekers, further enhancing Merck’s diversity recruitment efforts. - Conduct full and in-depth Interviews with qualified applicants to determine level of qualification, and identify top talent for open positions. * Communication and Reporting: - Respond to talent acquisition needs and inquiries from HRBPs, business leaders, hiring managers, etc. with firm-specific business knowledge. - Provide hiring managers accurate and timely updates on applicant activity, track talent acquisition metrics and report trends and issues to TA leadership, providing recommendations for improvement. - Meet Global R&S goals for time-to-fill, cost per hire, diverse candidate slates, candidate pipelines, and compliance.
Ideal Candidate
**Education:** - Minimum of a Bachelors' degree from an accredited college/university is required. **Required:** - Minimum of 5 years previous experience in executive recruiting, within a large, matrixed global organization - Minimum 3 years of prior experience recruiting executive level talent within the life sciences industry, either as a corporate in-house executive recruiter or within a retained executive search firm - Extensive knowledge of at least one applicant tracking system and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite - Demonstrated success in the use of social media and sourcing tools in addition to LinkedIn **Preferred:** - An executive presence which fosters credibility with senior hiring leaders and elevates the role beyond tactical execution to trusted, strategic business partner - Extensive experience in candidate assessment, as well as recruiting principles, theories and concepts with the ability to educate hiring managers on conducting behavior-based interviewing and compliant candidate selection practices. - Effective communication and influencing skills and ability to build and maintain relationships across all levels of the organization - Proven history of delivering with a sense of urgency; operating with a strong customer satisfaction approach - A demonstrated track record as an effective networker and closer, confident in developing complex offers with collaborative partners, including external vendors - An independent thinker who can work without direct supervision while developing creative solutions to complex problems which arise during the recruitment process
