Summary
We’re looking for a Director of Operations to help us scale systems/processes and help our team stay happy and productive, so we can achieve our mission of bringing enjoyable, effective and affordable online education to the world. We’re a team of 25 full-time employees and 50 contractors and we’re growing. You can learn more about our hiring process, office life, and philosophy. This is a full time position based in Berkeley, CA.
Responsibilities
* Manage back-office functions such as finance, legal, office management, etc. * Serve as a people manager for our HR manager and Recruiter * Work with external partners and vendors, such as lawyers and outsourced accountant * Scale many internal processes ranging from how we order our weekly team lunch to how we scale meetings and communication across the company — with a strong focus on maintaining our culture and sense of community * Partner with managers on employee development and growth * Continuously evaluate company performance against quarterly, annual, and long-term goals * Work with other departments on forecasting, budgeting, and metrics * Do whatever else needs to be done!
Ideal Candidate
* Have a strong alignment with our values, philosophy, and mission * Prior experience managing a team of at least 2 people * Have 7+ years of work experience * Are very comfortable with change and ambiguity and love taking on new challenges * Have excellent attention to detail * Seek out the root cause of issues * Have worked with external agencies, vendors, etc. and know how to negotiate with them and drive them to get results * Have the ability to bring people of diverse viewpoints together **Extra credit if you have…** * Have worked at a growing startup * Have managed managers
