Summary
This position manages the university’s efforts and resources related to web, mobile and social media applications, solutions and strategies. The incumbent also serves as a digital communications producer, fully integrated with the efforts of the broader marketing, digital media and communications staff. The incumbent provides direction and support for communications, creative and functionality aspects of projects and tasks for assigned clients. The position serves as a client relationship manager, PROJECT PLANNER/manager and digital architect to ensure successful delivery of identified projects within established deadlines and budgets.
Responsibilities
* Serve as the primary relationship manager to assigned clients (schools, colleges, divisions, departments) regarding digital media and communications projects to ensure successful outcomes and alignment with university standards and policies. Provide planning, guidance and support to client areas for major projects and daily incident workflow. Liaise with appropriate internal and external resources to accomplish goals * Manage and coordinate the university’s mobile and social media communications efforts. Develop and recommend mobile development strategies and frameworks. Manage and oversee mobile application deployments, mobile sites and other mobile media projects. Advocate for mobile-based solutions and maintain a comprehensive mobile roadmap. Collaborate with campus departments to ensure the university’s mobile efforts meet quality control standards, present an integrated user experience and align with other digital media, communications and marketing objectives. * Lead, support and execute projects and processes to deliver digital communication projects, including, but not limited to web presence redesigns, mobile applications, social media development, video productions, search engine marketing and optimization and/or any other initiatives aimed at improving the digital experience of identified target audiences. * MANAGE PROJECTresources, which may include freelancers, internal staff and/or interns ranging in disciplines from communications and creative to highly technical, industry-specific professionals. Ensure that services and projects are delivered as defined, on-time and within the project budget. * Provide expertise to clients and projects regarding online content, design, information architecture and other digital considerations effectively reach the identified target audiences, integrate with the university’s marketing and messaging direction and align with the university’s visual identity program. Audit digital media channels and recommend solutions. Devise plans and educate clients regarding alternative approaches and emerging trends. * Guide colleagues, content providers, faculty, campus administrators and freelancers in a variety of topics including writing styles, design and functionality. Recommend information architecture approaches and photography selections. Review and/or audit client copy/design/functionality and report whether objectives are being met. * Serve as a resident expert for the enterprise content management system and related digital media tools. Convene user groups and facilitate active dialogue between system users, content providers and vendors. Manage, verify and approve access to the university’s digital media systems as appropriate. Create, develop and/or oversee training, workshops and/or tutorials as necessary to support content providers. * Manage quality assurance, search engine optimization, ADA compliance protocols, digital metrics delivery, analytics tools and reporting. Develop and support a culture of data measurement metrics to measure the effectiveness of digital media channels, campaigns and/or efforts. Provide minimum data collection guidelines, implementation and training. Collaborate with clients to provide analytics reports and ensure projects ACCOUNT for and respond to data-driven findings. * Research and stay abreast of emerging digital media technologies and communications channels. Identify opportunities to utilize and enhance digital media projects, improve the digital experience and better address communications objectives. * Perform other duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
* Minimum of 4 years’ experience coordinating and/or managing digital media projects, which must include website development, mobile applications or other digital communications projects. * Demonstrated understanding of the creative process and project management methodologies. This may include experience in formulating and/or critiquing design concepts and the ability to review, refine and/or evaluate design, communications and functionality of a digital media project so that it successfully meets identified outcomes. * Demonstrated experience in relationship management and/or client relations. * Highly developed communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced by background in delivering presentations, participating/leading committees, consensus-building are required. * Highly developed problem-solving, leadership skills are required. * Collaborative and team-focused working style is required. * Experience in mid to large-sized enterprise environments which utilize a content management system is preferred. * Experience with in distributed content production environment is preferred. * Ability to work effectively and independently with internal and external constituencies and with creative, communications and technical professionals to accomplish group tasks and projects is preferred. * Typically a Bachelor’s degree in an area related to digital media production are preferred but may range from communications, marketing, graphic design, business management, computer science or other digital communications fields; * Master’s degree preferred. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills and abilities needed to stay abreast of best practices and industry trends.
