Western Wyoming Community College (WWCC) is a two year college located in Rock Springs, Wyoming. WWCC offers various one year certificates, numerous two year associate degrees, and some four year degrees in cooperation with the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming. The college students are known as the Mustangs.
Responsibilities
**Expectations and Nature of the Position** - The Webmaster is a key member of the College’s Marketing Department and is responsible for the development and maintenance of the College Web Applications and works closely with the overall marketing effort. - This person creates all web content by working with the campus community, ensuring all content is accurate and aligned with WWCC’s marketing standards and assures that individual pages are up-to-date and follow established WWCC standards. - This position requires an individual who is capable of applying the knowledge and experiences pertinent to web design and marketing. - This individual works with people throughout the campus with varying levels of technical knowledge and interest in the website. - This person also works with students to update information and promote activities and events. - This employee is an involved member of the Student Success Services leadership team; participating in student recruitment, student engagement, and other activities of the Division. - Some evening and weekend work required. **Primary Duties and Responsibilities For Which This Employee is Accountable** **Primary Public Website:** - Creates and publishes all web content. - Plans, develops, and maintains WWCC’s interactive website templates and associated technical standards for optimum functionality in all browsers and platforms. - Trains College personnel in the development of class and department web and related materials. - Enforces website style guidelines to maintain WWCC’s approved branding, proper grammar, and adherence to Section 508 disability and W3C coding standards. - Works with the Systems Administrator to configure, operate, and troubleshoot web servers based on College standards, including resolving of security and compatibility issues. - Ensures web content and data feeds are updated on a regular schedule. - Tests and evaluates web-based technologies; assesses the feasibility of these technologies and software and makes recommendations through appropriate channels. - Keeps abreast of trends in web delivery, including evolving mobile technologies, and learns appropriate new development software. - Maintains a professional relationship with vendor hardware and software technical support personnel. - Develops and implements search engine optimization strategies to increase web traffic; monitors and creates reports regarding web traffic, including Google Analytics and internal tools. - Administers automated processes such as search engine, form handling, user attribute detection, and template alterations based upon dates, events, and other parameters. **Additional Online Services:** - Maintains the overall look and general information on the Campus Portal; provides leadership to the virtual student union (Mustang Cruiser). - Oversees the web-based campus survey functions (Mustang Cruiser & SharePoint). - Administers and maintains systems and services to the College’s Intranet (SharePoint). - Assists faculty in the development of Internet-based supplemental course materials (Mustang Cruiser & Blackboard). - Administers and troubleshoots content and functionality of internet-based campus monitor systems. - Administers and maintains content management systems for recruitment, orientation, completion, and other external vendor websites representing WWCC. **Other Marketing Duties:** - Serves as a central member of the marketing team and works closely with other marketing staff to assure good branding and comprehensiveness of the marketing effort. - Takes and maintains photographs and/or video of faculty & staff and at on campus events and athletic games for use on the website and other marketing publications and social media. - Helps administrate the College’s social media presence, with an emphasis on YouTube. - Creates QR codes and other tools specifically for marketing to mobile device users. - Is available to assist with all marketing efforts campus-wide. - Serves as the Student Success Services liaison to Information Technology Services. **Other Duties** - Maintains an inventory of all assigned equipment and supplies; takes prudent action to safeguard WWCC physical resources from unauthorized use. - Serves as a resource person to the community as a whole and to various special populations by speaking to groups, answering specific inquiries, locating information and performing other related tasks. - Attend department meetings, student success services meetings, and participates in group projects. - Keeps abreast of professional developments by attending conferences, seminars, and workshops and by reading appropriate professional literature. - Performs other duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
Minimum Qualifications (knowledge, abilities, education and experience) - Bachelor’s degree in Web Design, Media Design, Digital Communication, Computer Science or a related field. - At least three years of progressively more responsible experience in web design and web project management. - Experience with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, PHP, and Perl. - Familiarity with Linux operating systems such as Ubuntu and Red Hat Enterprise Linux. - Extensive knowledge of desktop computer software, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite. - Working knowledge of digital cameras and quality photography in sports and low-light conditions. - Experience managing web projects, creating web content, and maintaining a comprehensive website. - Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, faculty, administrators, and other members of the College community. - Strong verbal and written communication skills. - Demonstrated organizational ability, including experience with complex organizational procedures and prioritizing multiple concurrent requests. - Understanding of basic marketing techniques of web design and the comprehensive nature of a marketing plan. - Knowledge of basic text-editing software and common website content management systems to edit code. **Equivalency Statement** - For those candidates who do not exactly meet all minimum qualifications, an equivalent combination of education and experience, which has provided comparable knowledge and abilities, may be accepted. **Preferred Additional Qualifications (knowledge, abilities, education, and experience)** - Master’s Degree in a related field. - Familiarity with root-level Linux server administration. - Five years of experience in web design and web project management. - Successful experience working in a community college environment. - Additional training and certification in web and design related technology. - Working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, SharePoint, and server configuration and maintenance. - Successful college teaching experience. - In-depth knowledge of WWCC and the student populations it serves. - Knowledge of video production & editing.
