Summary
The Human Resources (HR) Generalist is responsible for the day-to-day administration of Company sponsored benefit programs. The HR Generalist will also promote positive employee relations, engagement and satisfaction through proactive outreach and communication with employees at all levels of the organization. In addition, the HR Generalist will serve as the Facilities Manager and Event Planner for the Corporate Office.
Responsibilities
* Under the direction of the Compensation, Benefits, HR Systems, Vendors, & Compliance Manager, administers Health & Welfare and Retirement plans according to policies and procedures set by Company, including medical, dental, vision, flexible spending, life and supplemental insurance, LTD, voluntary benefits, 401K and pension. Includes but is not limited to the following: * Prepares and distributes necessary benefit documents for new hires prior to eligibility period. * Reviews and approves benefit enrollments and ensures appropriate documentation is received and filed. * Monitors electronic data transmissions for external vendors ensuring transmission successful. * Responds to benefits related inquiries from and develops communication tools to enhance understanding of the Company’s benefits package for all levels of the organization. * Communication may be in writing (typically via email, but may also include letters, or posting flyers on Employee Portal, etc) and/or communication may be verbal (typically telephonically). * Liaison with vendors and insurance carriers. * Assists in administering the 401k Plans to include answering questions with respect to vesting, eligibility, and loans, and performs other duties related to the Plans. * Handles Retirement Plan enrollments, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, rollovers, distributions, loans, hardships and compliance testing in conjunction with the Manager and the applicable vendor. * Administers termination process including; notifying all insurance carriers, notifying third party administrators of all participants eligible to receive COBRA benefits, sending employee termination benefit letter, etc. * Audit vendor invoices, ensuring accurate coverage, employee payroll deductions, and billing. * Ensure forms and information from benefits vendors are constantly updated and accessible in HR systems and/or the Employee Portal. * Maintain and update employee records as it relates to benefits in HR and in applicable vendor systems. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of all data entry. * Employee Relations and Performance Management * Make recommendations regarding policies, programs, processes, and guidelines to meet the needs of the organization, to comply with legal requirements and to promote positive employee relations. * Work with Corporate and business unit management teams to build an understanding of and a dependence upon ‘best in class’ HR practices that will support each business unit and accommodate future change and growth. * Act as a business partner to identify, integrate and deliver HR services through best practices related to employee engagement and retention, organizational development, change management, policy administration, record retention, and performance management. * Plan, coordinate and execute Employee Events for the Corporate Office (ie: company events/meetings, Corporate holiday party, etc.). * Perform Facilities Management responsibilities for the Corporate Office, including but not limited to: Manage Corporate Office Cleaning vendor and other outside vendors of Corporate Office, including storage facility, etc.
Ideal Candidate
* Minimum 2 years of relevant HR experience * Bachelor’s degree preferred * Understanding of State and Federal Laws including benefit-related regulatory requirements, including ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA and other applicable regulations preferred * Business mindset with an aptitude to research information and analyze data to arrive at valid conclusions, recommendations, and meaningful plans of action * Advanced proficiency with computers, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint and HR systems * Compelling and naturally inquisitive and persuasive communication skills, along with excellent writing skills * Experience and comfort speaking in front of small and large groups * Self-starter with desire to work as a team player or independently when needed * Well organized and detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities * Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and excel in a fast paced and dynamic work environment * Strong customer-service orientation with good follow through * Project management skills * Ability to handle challenging situations * Continuous improvement mindset * Experience handling confidential documents and circumstances * Possess superb interpersonal skills and comfort interacting with all levels of the organization
